(September 21, 2022 6:41 AM) Grass Lake High School student Brayden Lape said not many people knew that he sings.

That may have all changed in one night.

Lape got one chair turn, Blake Shelton’s, at the blind auditions of “The Voice” on Tuesday night and will advance to the next round.

Singers perform a song for approximately 2 minutes as four celebrity judges have their chairs turned around – not able to see the singer, but only hear.

If more than one chair turns, the performer makes the choice.

If none are turned, the singer is eliminated.

Lape, a sophomore at GLHS, sang the song Niall Horan’s “This Town” at the blind audition – taped earlier in the year.

Grass Lake held a watch party at the high school.

“Getting to be here is awesome,” Lape told the judges. “I am from Grass Lake … a small town where everyone knows everyone.”

Lape is an athlete at GLHS, playing football, basketball, and baseball.
