(October 22, 2022 8:20 AM) The Trojans spotted Springport 12 first-quarter points before going off on the Spartans. 

East Jackson scored 20 points in the second quarter and 34 in the fourth to pull out the 60-38 Big Eight/Cascades Conference crossover contest.

The Trojans finish the season with a 3-6 record – its best season since going 5-4 in 2011. 

Springport experiences its first 0-9 season since 1983. 

EJHS quarterback Austin Tingley went off on the Spartans with nearly 300 yards passing and seven touchdowns. 

Landon Roberts scored three touchdowns on only four catches. Cooper Pelton ran for 144 yards and one touchdown and Mason Dingee caught two passes  – both for touchdowns – for the Trojans. 

Zander Kashat led the defensive effort for East Jackson with eight tackles and Dylan Osborne recovered a fumble for a touchdown. 

Rylinn Hale tallied more than 300 yards of offense and was responsible for five scores for Springport. 

Kaden Woyame returned the opening kickoff 85 yards for a score for the Spartans as they got off to a quick start.

Michigan Center 56, Bronson 19: Michigan Center High School put up 104 in two wins over the Vikings this season. Earlier in the year, the Cardinals won 48-20. Michigan Center ends the season with a 4-5 record, losing a couple of games in the waning second. Bronson finishes the season with a 2-7 record and on a 7-game losing streak. 

Hanover-Horton 21, Quincy 0: Hanover-Horton High School records its first shutout since blanking Vandercook Lake in 2019. The Comets finished the season with a 3-6 record. The win breaks a four-game losing streak by the Comets. Davon Ackley ran for 152 yards and one touchdown to lead Hanover-Horton. Graham Gumper added 113 rushing yards and two touchdowns for the Comets. 

Addison 42, Jonesville 22: Addison High School ran for nearly 400 yards on the ground as Keelin Mullin finished with 156 rushing yards and one score and Spencer Brown added 139 rushing yards and three scores. Addison finishes the regular season with a 5-4 record while Jonesville is 4-5. Evan Potes and Jay Griewhan both recorded interceptions for the Panthers. Dominic Aponte ran for 90 yards and one score for Jonesville. 

Reading 30, Manchester 7: Manchester High School finishes the regular season with a 5-4 record. The Flying Dutchmen were No. 22 in the Division 7 rankings prior to the game and may have to sweat it out for a playoff spot. The top 32 in each of the eight divisions earn playoff spots based on wins and strength of schedule. Reading finishes the regular season with a 7-2 record. Kannon Duffing hit Alexander Woods with a 20-yard touchdown pass for Manchester’s only score of the game. Bubba Duffing finished with 11 tackles and Cody Branner added 10 stops for the Flying Dutchmen. 

Homer 34, Grass Lake 14: Grass Lake High School finishes the regular season with a 5-4 record while Homer is 7-2. Brayden Lape threw for 278 yards and two touchdowns for Grass Lake. Robert Anderson caught four of those passes for 118 yards and two scores. Blake Stark finished with 10 tackles and William Higgins added nine stops for Grass Lake. Homer is headed into the right direction with seven wins in its last eight contests. 

Lumen Christi 49, Harper Creek 23: Lumen Christi Catholic High School concludes the regular season with six consecutive wins and a 6-3 record. Harper Creek ends its season with a 3-6 overall record. Joe Lathers tallied three touchdowns for the Titans and Devian Franklin finished with 92 rushing yards and one score. Harper Creek held the lead early in the contest, but the Titans responded with six scores in the final three-plus quarters. Lathers also led LCCHS with eight tackles and an interception, Franklin made six stops, and Kadale Williams intercepted a pass for the Titans. Lumen Christi awaits to see who its first-round district opponent will be. 

Northwest 37, Marshall 27: The Mounties finished above .500 for the first time since 2013. Adam Haselius ran for 242 yards and scored three touchdowns for NWHS in the win. Izayiah Hawes rushed for 120 yards and two touchdowns and lineman Easton Craig got into the running game with 49 yards on only eight carries. Carter Fairley finished with five tackles, Antonio Green tallied three tackles, and Charles Simpkins intercepted a pass for Northwest. 

Blissfield 31, Columbia Central 26: Columbia Central High School finishes the season with a 1-8 record while Blissfield was 4-5. 

Hillsdale 29, Onsted 28: The Hornets finished the regular season with a 4-5 record following the Lenawee County Athletic Association win. Hillsdale scored 14 points in the final quarter to pull out the win. Jordan Barnes scored on a 90-yard run for Hillsdale. Touchdowns were also scored by Kodi Zuver, Hunter Wilson, and Stephen Petersen for Hillsdale. Both Petersen and Barnes finished with more than 100 rushing yards for the Hornets. Hillsdale rushed for nearly 300 yards in the win. Onsted finishes the season with a 1-8 record. 

Concord 55, Athens 18: Anthony Evans returned to the lineup and threw for nearly 400 yards and seven touchdowns in the Concord win. Mekhi Wingfield caught eight passes for 201 yards and four touchdowns. Logan Lamb caught two passes for 109 yards and two scores and rushed for 62 yards and another touchdown. The Yellow Jackets finish the season with a 5-4 record. Athens finished the season with a 4-5 record. 

Jackson High School quarterback Gibson Drummond (10) scored a touchdown late in the third quarter to secure the win at home on Friday.

Jackson 22, Haslett 13: Jackson High School finishes the regular season with a 5-4 record while Haslett is 6-3. The win all but secures a Division 3 playoff spot for JHS. Jackson led 14-7 at halftime, but Haslett kicked a pair of field goals to cut the lead to 14-13. Gibson Drummond scored on a 1-yard run late in the third quarter and the 2-point conversion by Tavion Tanner put JHS up by nine points. Cayman Harris and Malik Monroe made key sacks late in the game to secure the win for Jackson. Julio Pizano finished the night with 13 carries for  96 yards on the ground. Jackson finished the night with 324 yards offensively. 

Western 35, Coldwater 28: The win gives Western High School a 6-3 record and just about secures a Division 3 playoff spot. 

Stockbridge 37, Dansville 0: Drew Robinson ran for 129 yards and threw for 117 and scored four touchdowns for Stockbridge. The Panthers are now 6-3 and will have to wait to see if that is good enough to make the Division 6 playoffs. Stockbridge was ranked No. 36 in Division 6, but needs to be in the top 32 to make the playoffs. Gary Killinger finished with eight tackles and a pick-six for Stockbridge. 

Fowler 48, Leslie 7: Mason Tow intercepted a pass and returned it for a touchdown for the Blackhawks’ only score of the game. Leslie finishes the season with a 2-7 record while Fowler is 8-1 overall. Leslie was held to less than 80 yards of offense on the night.
