Boys Soccer

Grass Lake 4, Lumen Christi 0: Kolton Heidrich scored a pair of goals as the Warriors earned a road win to begin the season. Heidrich scored 14 minutes into the first half and 10 minutes into the second half. Tyler Chizek and Max Goebel also scored goals for GLHS. Josh Postuma stopped all six shots on goal earning the shutout for Grass Lake. Lumen Christi goalie Alex Martin also stopped six shots in the contest. 

Michigan Center 5, Onsted 0: Spencer Berkeypile scored three goals, and Hector Ramirez and Kadin Stiles added one each for the Cardinals. Connor Tripp finished with two assists and Hunter Clemmons earned the shutout with six saves in net for MCHS. 

Western 1, Dexter 0: Roarke Watterson scored on a penalty kick for the Panthers’ only goal of the game. Aidan Barrett earned the shutout making several saves including a penalty kick in the second half for Western.

Girls Golf

Cascades Conference at Columbia Central: Logan Bentley of CCHS shot a 2-under-par 34 to lead all golfers at Clark Lake Golf Course Wednesday during the first Cascades Conference jamboree. The Golden Eagles won the jamboree with a score of 182, East Jackson was second (241), Grass Lake placed third (270), and Michigan Center finished fourth (273). Anna McCubbins finished with a 43 for Napoleon, Kelsey Fausz and Marrisa Berro of CCHS shot 49s, teammate Iliana Fowle shot a 50, and Mckenna worthing of East Jackson shot a 53. Napoleon, Hanover-Horton, Addison, and Vandercook Lake also had golfers at the jamboree. CCHS was the only new school in the 12-team Cascades Conference to participate in the jamboree.
