Volleyball
Napoleon 3, Columbia Central 1: The Pirates took three-of-four sets in the annual Breast Cancer Awareness Game at CCHS. Maggie Beer finished with 18 kills and 24 assists, Gracie Tallman finished with 14 kills and four aces, and Emma Darnell finished with 10 kills for Napoleon. CCHS was led by Berlynn Lyke with 20 kills and 15 assists, Cecelia Slat recorded seven kills and 13 digs, and Alison Richardson dished 15 assists.
Springport 3, Concord 2: The Spartans won 17-15 in the fifth set to earn the victory. The Spartans won the first two sets, but the Yellow Jackets rallied to win games three and four forcing a fifth set. Maddux Locke finished with 24 kills, Macie Merrill tallied five aces and seven blocks, and Rylie Siefert dished 43 assists for the Spartans.
Leslie 3, East Jackson 2: The Trojans lost 15-10 in the fifth set after winning sets one and four.
Grass Lake 3, Vandercook Lake 0: The Warriors won 25-9, 25-9, and 25-8 at home Tuesday. Jozlyn Davis finished with seven digs and Kylinn Lagow tallied five digs and four blocks for the Jayhawks.
Litchfield 3, Jackson Christian 0: Litchfield earned a road win against the Royals Tuesday in SCAA play. Madi Conrad finished with 13 assists and Shaina McCombs and Ella Bole both finished with three kills for Jackson Christian.
Tecumseh 3, Jackson 1: The Vikings lost in a Southeastern Conference match at home Tuesday. Eliza Noland served seven consecutive points as the Vikings pulled out set three. Kennedy Lee finished with 13 kills and Bryleigh Zigenfuss tallied 12 kills for Jackson (12-14-3 overall).
Cross Country
Big 8 Conference at Quincy: The Yellow Jackets edged Quincy, 48-49, in the fourth jamboree of the season. Springport finished seventh with 171 points. Haley Stimer of Concord finished second overall in 20:19 and teammate Cieara Barrett finished fourth in 20:50. Hattie Gray of Springport finished 25th overall in 26:06.
Boys Cross Country
Big 8 Conference at Quincy: Concord High School finished fourth (112) and Springport was sixth (136) at the Quincy Jamboree. Maddox Hutchinson of Concord finished 11th (19:07) and Eli Dyer of Springport 16th (19:25).
Boys Soccer Districts
D2 Mason 5, Northwest 0: Northwest High School goalie Lucas Ratell was pelted with 22 shots, but the freshman held his own with 17 saves for the Mounties. Mason advanced to the Division 2 district final Thursday at Western High School at 6:30 p.m.
D2 Western 3, Chelsea 2 (SO): The Cardiac Kids won again in overtime at the district tournament, this time in a shootout. Roarke Watterson gave Western a 1-0 lead in the first half on an assist by Christian Roza. Chelsea tied the game in the second half sending the contest into 20 minutes of overtime. Western scored again on a shot by Geovani Bowden Fuentes with less than seven minutes remaining in overtime. Chelsea scored with 1.2 seconds left in the match sending it into a shootout. Roza, Wittaker Watterson, and Roark Watterson scored shootout goals giving Western the win. Goalie Aiden Barrett made a big save in the shootout securing the victory for the Panthers. Western advances to the district final Thursday at home beginning at 6:30 p.m.
