(July 15, 2024 5:52 PM ET) Pam Messerly earned the medalist honors in the Jackson County Womens Golf Association Match Play Tournament qualifying held at Sharp Park Golf Course Monday.

Messerly tied Napoleon High School golfer Anna McCubbins with 75s and won in a playoff with a birdie on the first hole.

Defending champion Andrea Clark participated in the qualifying round shooting a 71 but was considered a practice round for the golfer who has dominated the event the last 15 years. As the defending champion, she is not required to qualify for the match play event.

Cheri Tarpley shot 78, and Kathy Swihart and Janice Haynes shot 79 in the championship flight.

Sandy Fisher led the first flight qualifying with an 87, Peggy Parrott finished with 87, and Deb Falk carded an 88.

First round matches begin Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. with Clark facing Anne Faucher (84), Tarpley battling Swihart, McCubbins facing off with Haynes, and Messerly against Barb Smith (80) in the opening round of the championship flight.

First flight matches include Kathy Gabriel (90) versus Sandy Straka (90) at 8:10 a.m., Deb Falk faces Nancy Rumsey (95), and Peggy Parrott will battle Beth Elliott (97).

Semifinal matches are expected to be played on Wednesday and the finals Thursday.
