Harold White Awards Breakfast. 7:30 AM. The Jackson community is invited to attend the 2024 Harold White Awards Breakfast! The annual awards organized by the City’s Human Relations Commission recognizes Jackson residents and organizations making a difference in volunteering, diversity and inclusion. Awardees will be recognized at the Harold White Sr. Awards Breakfast on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 7:30 a.m. at the Commonwealth Commerce Center. Tickets are $25 per person and includes breakfast. The Commonwealth Commerce Center is located at 209 E. Washington Ave.
Dog Walk at Ella Sharp Park. 6 PM. Bring your friendly, furry companions to the Rotunda at Ella Sharp Park and join other dog-owners in a relaxing evening stroll around the park. Grab your leash, lace up your walking shoes, and join us for a Dog Walk at Jackson’s Parks and Trails: the most pawsome dog-meetup series in Jackson! Whether your furry friend is a playful pup or a seasoned tail-wagger, they’re sure to have a barking good time. We’ll be sniffing out the best trails, enjoying some fresh air, and meeting other dog-loving pals. Presented by Experience Jackson.
Watercolor Painting Workshop. 1 PM to 3 PM. Back by popular demand! A second workshop has been added for budding artists to try the beautiful medium of watercolor painting! This class, taught again by our skilled artist Sarah BW, will introduce new students to creating special gift cards! Continuing students may bring a simple photo to learn basics of drawing shapes with an eye for seeing important details. It’s helpful to paint something simple you love! The tips and ‘tricks’ from this class (along with a useful handout) will get you on a productive path to learn! All needed supplies are provided. Northwood University will have a representative on campus to talk to students about transfer options. They will be located in Bert Walker Hall across from the Center for Student Success.
