2024 AWARE Men Who Cook. Tickets are $40 per person. Kids under 10 attend free!  Tickets include the ability to sample all of the tasty dishes provided by the chefs, a drink ticket to be used on local beer and wine or a soda, access to the silent auction and raffles, the opportunity to hit the dance floor and enjoy local live entertainment, a digital photo souvenir at the photo booth, and more! Rummage and Book Sale. Jackson’s First United Methodist Church invites you to the annual Rummage and Book Sale.  275 West Michigan Avenue, Downtown Jackson.  Wednesday, Oct. 23 | 3-7 PM, Thursday, Oct. 24 | 9 AM – 3 PM, $3 Bag Sale 9-1 PM.  Everything is FREE on Thursday 1-3 PM.  Handicap Entrance is off of Cortland St.  Proceeds support local and international missions through JFUMC’s United Women in Faith.

Michigan Theatre presents The Shining. 7 PM.  Join us at the Michigan Theatre of Jackson this Thursday for our Film Series screening of The Shining. Immerse yourself in this iconic horror classic, which follows a family as they descend into madness at a haunted hotel, revealing the terrifying battle between isolation and insanity. Doors open at 6:30 pm, with the film starting at 7:00 pm. Tickets are just $5, and Michigan Theatre Members enjoy free admission with their membership card. Witches & Warlocks:  A Halloween Beer Dinner. 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM.  Grand River Brewery Jackson, 117 W Louis Glick Hwy, Jackson.  Join us on October 24th from 6 to 8 PM for a hauntingly delicious evening at Grand River Brewery! This event features a 5-course meal expertly paired with our handcrafted beers, making it the perfect way to celebrate the spooky season. Homebuilders Association of Jackson Mix at 6 Meet & Greet.  6 PM. In celebration of the reopening of the Home Builders Association’s office, we are having a Meet & Greet with our Board of Directors and our new Executive Officer. The Jackson County Chamber of Commerce will perform a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, a local Veterans group will perform a Flag Raising Ceremony, and Murphy’s will be providing Food and Drinks courtesy of Lester Brothers, Strouss Construction, Billy White Roofing and Cook Foundation & Flatwork. Admission is free and all members of the HBAJ as well as prospective members are encouraged to attend. 1815 East High Street, Jackson.

Julia Child: A Recipe for Life. New Exhibit at Ella Sharp Museum.  Julia Child: A Recipe for Life, explores the key ingredients in Julia’s personal journey, which became part of America’s culinary revolution, through a series of immersive experiences. Julia’s insatiable curiosity and tenacious spirit drove her to endlessly try, test, and teach how to make delicious food. Learning empowered Julia and she in turn empowered others, profoundly transforming American cuisine and food culture.  Julia Child: A Recipe for Life is a traveling exhibition produced and toured by Flying Fish, developed in collaboration with Napa Valley Museum, supported by The Julia Child Foundation for Gastronomy and the Culinary Arts, the Schlesinger Library, Harvard Radcliffe Institute, and generously sponsored by Oceania Cruises.  Tuesday – Friday: 10 am – 5 pm, Saturday: 11:30am – 4pm, Sunday – Monday: Closed.  Admission includes Museum Galleries and Hurst Planetarium Shows.  Check here for updates.
