(August 14, 2023 8:00 AM ET) It has been a tough offseason for the Addison Panthers football team.
One teammate died and another is going through chemotherapy following a diagnosis of Leukemia.
But the Panthers march on as one of the top teams in the Cascades Conference.
Addison has won the conference title three of the last four years and is one of those teams you can pencil in for a playoff spot each season. The Panthers have competed in the Michigan High School Athletic Association playoffs five of the least six season.
They were 5-4 overall during the regular season in 2022.
Tenth-year coach Joshua Linderman will again implement a grinding running game with the Power T offense.
Senior Spencer Brown was a first-team all-conference running back and cornerback for the Panthers in 2022.
Guard Brandon Pepper was one of the leaders on the line as a guard for Addison.
Tight end Gunner Demeuse was an honorable-mention player for the Panthers a year ago.
Other returnees expected to play key roles include sophomore Quincy Smith (TE), senior Jaxen Sword (QB), junior Joe Clark (RB/LB), senior linebacker Jaxon Whittemore, and Rowden Didomenico (DL).
Brown, Sword, Pepper, and Clark will be the team captains for the Panthers in 2023.
New players expected to make a difference this season are junior Josh Ray (DB), junior Alex Cubberly (RB), sophomore Kessler Durkee (OT), and junior Heith Burton (OL).
The Panther will use the team motto FAMILY – Forget About Me, I Love You – in 2023.
