(November 13, 2022 8:52 PM)  The Jackson County Intermediate School District announced tonight that due to a systems outage, all Jackson County public schools will be closed tomorrow, Monday, November 14. That includes all administration buildings, the Jackson Area Career Center, Torrant/Kit Young Centers, and all special education programming.

The Hillsdale Intermediate School District also announced all Hillsdale County schools would be closed on Monday as well.

According to JCISD Superintendent Kevin Oxley, only public schools in Jackson County are affected by the systems outage.   Oxley said Jackson private, parochial and charter schools would be open.  Jackson Preparatory & Early College is on the system but JPEC announced they will be open.

Jackson Public School Superindendent Jeff Beal Issued this statement:

“Over the weekend, our technology consortium suffered a systems outage. The outage affected critical operating systems in the district, including but not limited to heating, telephones, and classroom technology. Jackson County ISD technology staff is working to fully investigate the disruptions and to restore affected systems.

“Because this will take some time, superintendents from both Jackson and Hillsdale counties have determined the best course of action is to close schools for tomorrow, Monday, November 14, 2022. There will be no after school activities.

“We understand the difficulties this decision may cause, and appreciate your understanding and patience as our technology team works around the clock to get our systems back online and our students back in school. We will provide more information as it becomes available.”
