JTV Selected a Winner in 38th Annual Telly Awards

The Telly Awards has named JTV as a multiple winner in the 38th Annual Telly Awards, receiving five awards for both broadcast and non-broadcast productions.   This year’s Telly Awards received over 13,000 entries from all 50 states and numerous countries.  Awarded the Telly Bronze Award:  Lomar Machine & Tool 40th Anniversary Celebration documentary video, producer Brandon Dowley;  Art Beat:  Bonus Saves, producer Abigail Copelin;  The Bart Hawley Show;  True Story, The History of Jackson’s Prisons, producer Austin Bell;  True Story, Goose Lake International Music Festival, producer Austin Bell. The Telly Awards was founded in 1979 and is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, the finest video and film productions, and online commercials, video and films.  Winners represent the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments in the world. Some Sunshine and Later Clouds

A cold front will push eastward through the region through early afternoon. A few showers and thunderstorms may accompany the passage of this feature. A low pressure system developing in Kansas will track northeast through tonight. This system will spread clouds and rain in our direction. A cold front associated with this storm will push eastward through Lower Michigan Sunday morning. High pressure then builds in from the southwest on Monday. Elmer Hitt Named Director of Police & Fire Services

Elmer Hitt at the 2017 Police Memorial Ceremony at the JSO Weatherwax Hall (photo by Ryan Kerwin, JTV) Jackson City Manager Patrick Burtch named Deputy Police Chief Elmer Hitt as the new director of police and fire services Friday, May 19, after serving five months as interim director following the retirement of Matthew Heins.  Hitt, a Northwest High School graduate, rose through the ranks within the Jackson Police Department after he joined as a police cadet in 1996. He became a patrol officer in 1997 before he was promoted to sergeant in 2005, lieutenant in 2010 and then deputy police chief in 2015. Hitt was selected by Burtch after the job was posted both internally and externally and after a number of candidates were interviewed by officials within the city’s personnel department and the city manager’s office. “It speaks to Elmer’s qualifications that he rose to the top of all candidates both within the Jackson Police Department and outside it,” City Manager Patrick Burtch said. “City administrators, officials, and myself all look forward to seeing how he moves the department forward. We’re all very pleased with Elmer’s qualifications and administrative capabilities.” Hitt said he is humbled to be named director…
