Cougars Home Finale

Spring Arbor University defeated Goshen College on Saturday 79-67 in their final home game of the year.  “I’m so proud of our seniors. They have been tremendous ambassadors for Spring Arbor University and our basketball program. Our five seniors are truly amazing! Thank you Chris, Matt C., Matt H., Randy, and Matt V,” commented SAU head coach Ryan Cottingham.  For highlights from this game tune into Thursday Night Hoops at 7:30pm and 10:30pm this week.

Paczki Day (Eve)

Cascades Conference Matchup

Hanover-Horton travels to East Jackson with first place in the Cascades on the line.  The Comets won the first meeting 55-45.  JTV will be there to broadcast the game with Mike Moore and Joel Freehling on the call.   Other games this weekend on the Suburban Chevrolet Cadillac Sports Weekend:  Dewitt at Lumen Christi and Northwest at Western.  Tune in starting at 1pm Saturday on JTV Sports.

Most Teens Don’t at Vandercook Lake

Today on the Bart Hawley Show, Vandercook Lake High School's Rita McVey introduces us to the traffic and driving safety series of events held at the school.  The district received a grant to provide driving simulators and other tools.   Also on the show, State Representative Mike Shirkey;  Vascular Surgeon Dr. Paul Corcoran on heart and vascular health screenings offered by Allegiance Health;  Justin Shuberg from Walt's Health Foods with some cold and flu remedies and weight loss supplements.

Local Dog in Westminster Kennel Club Show

Grand Champion Ken-Bear's Herbie, the Love Bug and Laurie LaZebnik join Bart on today's show.  Herbie will be competing next week in the Westminster Kennel Club annual show in New York City.  Herbie is the nation's seventh ranked Old English Sheepdog.  Other guests today include Springport Schools Superintendent Randy Cook;  former State Senator and Legislative Consultant Phil Hoffman;  Sue Stevens from Karmay's Flowers, Gifts & Candy;  filmmaker Stan Walsh, Kiwanis Travel Adventure Series; new McDonald's menu items with Amy Thomson. Update:  Laurie shares her recipe for "bait" treats used in dog show competitions:  Cathy Drummond's Irresistible Dog Show Bait.  Mix in food processor until smooth:  1 cup flour, 1 cup cornmeal, 1/4 cup wheat germ, 3/4 cup water, 1 pound liver (organic calf, cow or chicken), 1 teaspoon garlic powder.  Pour into a greased 9x12 pan.  Bake at 325-350 degrees F for 20 to 25 minutes.  Cool and cut into dog bite sized squares.
