Extreme Dodge Jackson County Scoreboard April 26, 2023

Baseball Columbia Central 4, Hudson 2: Nick Wilding knocked in two runs at the plate and earned the pitching win for CCHS going all seven innings. Ryan Ladd also finished with two hits for the Golden Eagles.  Hudson 6, Columbia Central 3: The Tigers scored four times in the seventh inning to pull out the victory. Ryan Hammond finished with two hits and Nick Wilding knocked in two more runs for CCHS.  East Jackson 8, Hanover-Horton 6: East Jackson scored twice in the bottom of the sixth inning to secure the win. Bryce Fowler finished with two hits and knocked in three runs and Landon Roberts tallied two hits for East Jackson. Channing Hull finished with three hits and Luke Soper added a pair of hits and an RBI for the Comets.  Hanover-Horton 13, East Jackson 0: Lukas Nadell knocked in three runs and Braylon Sayles finished with two hits for the Comets. Luke Soper and Jack Wooster combined for the shutout victory for HHHS. JCAS Performs Dog Day Afternoon Rescue at Airport

By Jeff Steers JTV News (April 26, 2023 3:20 PM ET) Seven members from the Jackson County Animal Shelter performed their own Dog Day Afternoon exercise on Wednesday. Instead of stealing money from a bank, they were stealing life for nearly a dozen dogs from Texas. Jackson County Animal Services Director Lydia Sattler said the county was working with an animal rescue organization in Texas to secure homes for the dogs.  “The source shelter in Texas runs an ongoing risk of euthanizing healthy, adoptable animals,” Sattler said in a press release. “We are thankful to have such a great community in Jackson and the surrounding areas … we know compassion does not stop at a county or state line.” Eleven dogs were flown from Texas to Jackson County Airport – Reynolds Field on Wednesday as part of the project by Athens Animal Rescue out of Texas. Candidates Announced for City of Jackson 2023 Elections

(April 26, 2023 s:44 PM ET) The City of Jackson today announced the candidates for its upcoming 2023 elections.   First term Mayor Daniel Mahoney will face challengers Laura Dwyer Schlecte and John Wilson in the August 8 primary.  Both Schlecte and Wilson ran against Mahoney in the 2021 primary, with Wilson advancing to the November 2021 general election.  Mahoney was elected by a vote of 2,077 votes to Wilson’s 1,745 votes. Schlecte will be giving up her 4th Ward council seat by running for mayor.  Incumbents Martin Griffin, Treasurer and Councilmembers Freddie Dancy and Will Forgrave are seeking reelection. The City Clerk’s Office has confirmed the following candidates have successfully filed for the offices that are up for election this year. The sophomore came within inches of scoring a hat trick when she hit the crossbar moments later. American 1 Credit Union’s Martha Fuerstenau Receives Pat Carlton Community Leadership Award

(April 25, 2023 11:44 AM ET) American 1 Credit Union announced today that President/CEO, Martha Fuerstenau, was presented the Pat Carlton Community Leadership Award at the Leadership Jackson Graduation Celebration on April 19, 2023.  The Pat Carlton Community Leadership Award recognizes a past Leadership Jackson graduate who has exerted outstanding work in the local Jackson community. The recipient of the award must also live, or work in the Jackson community, show continued personal, and professional development, give back through volunteering, and encourage others to get involved.
