Consumers Energy & Jackson County Department on Aging Ribbon Cutting, 7-28-2026. The Jackson County Chamber of Commerce hosted a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony July 28 for the Jackson County Department on Aging’s new electric Meals on Wheels vehicle. The Department on Aging entered the electric vehicle world through the support of Consumers Energy. In addition to donating the Ford E-Transit, Consumers Energy provided funding for the charging station and the necessary electrical infrastructure, making the project possible. The investment will help strengthen the Meals on Wheels program for years to come. The vehicle is used to deliver nutritious meals to older adults throughout Jackson County, serving a route that reaches more than 60 individuals each weekday. Beyond meal delivery, the program also provides valuable wellness checks that help older adults remain safe, connected and independent. Photos by Henry Black, JTV.
