Jackson, Michigan– The 2018 NAIA Women’s Soccer All-America Teams were announced Tuesday. Spring Arbor University had four players selected to the teams. Headlining the awards was Bethany Balcer. Balcer was named the 2018 NAIA National Player of the Year. This is the second time in a row she has been named the best in the United States. It is the third time in her career.

Balcer is the first to win the award three separate times. She scored 31 goals over the course of the season. Her 31 goals ranked seventh nationally, while her 11 game-winners were the second-most in the NAIA. The senior from Hudsonville, Michigan concluded her career as the most decorated player in Spring Arbor history.

Balcer has tallied 129 goals in four years. That tally is good for fifth all-time in NAIA history. An astonishing achievement. Balcer is a four-time Crossroads League Player of the Year and four-time NAIA First Team All-American.

The Cougars finished the season with an overall record 20-2-1 and advanced to the semifinal round of the NAIA Women’s Soccer National Championship. The senior class is the winningest class in program history. They recorded an astounding 89-6-4 record. In that span they collected four Crossroads League championships, three national final appearances and two NAIA national championships.
