Position: Photographer and Sports Writer
Overview: JTV is seeking a talented and passionate Photographer and Sports Writer to join our team in Jackson, Michigan. This dual role combines photography skills with sports journalism, focusing on capturing moments through photography and creating compelling written content about local high school sports.
Responsibilities:
- Photography:
- Capture high-quality photographs of local high school sports events, athletes, coaches, and community activities.
- Ensure photographs are edited and optimized for digital use and upload them promptly to JTV’s website and social media platforms.
- Maintain a visual archive of photos for future use and reference.
- Sports Reporting:
- Work with local schools to gather information on results from games and matches
- Interview coaches, players, and community members to gather information and quotes for articles.
- Write engaging articles and stories that highlight local students, coaches, teams, and sporting events.
- Cover a variety of sports, including but not limited to football, basketball, baseball, soccer, and track.
- Content Management:
- Manage and update sports-related content on JTV’s website and social media channels.
- Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and relevance of sports-related information and updates.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with other members of the JTV team, including editors, producers, and content creators, to coordinate coverage and ensure comprehensive sports reporting.
- Community Engagement:
- Foster positive relationships with local schools, athletic departments, and community members to enhance coverage and access to sports events.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a photographer and/or sports writer, with a portfolio demonstrating proficiency in both photography and writing.
- Strong photography skills with experience in digital photography, photo editing software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom), and photo management.
- Excellent writing and storytelling abilities, with a knack for capturing the essence of local sports events and personalities.
- Knowledge of local high school sports and a passion for community journalism.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to conduct interviews and build relationships with coaches, athletes, and community members.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends to cover sports events as needed.

Overview: JTV is seeking a motivated and skilled Local Television Producer to join our dynamic team in Jackson, Michigan. As a Local Television Producer, you will be responsible for overseeing the filming, editing, and production of various video projects including TV commercials, segments, and other video content. Additionally, this role involves the production of live television broadcasts and sports programming.
Responsibilities:
- Video Production: Conceptualize, plan, and execute the filming, editing, and production of TV commercials, segments, and other video content as assigned.
- Live Television Production: Manage the production of live television broadcasts including community updates, local events, and special programming.
- Sports Programming: Coordinate and produce sports programming, including live broadcasts of local high school games and events.
- Content Development: Work closely with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams to understand project requirements and develop compelling video content that meets objectives.
- Technical Operations: Operate cameras, audio equipment, lighting rigs, and other technical gear necessary for filming and broadcasting.
- Post-Production: Edit video footage, apply graphics, animations, and special effects as needed, and ensure high-quality production standards are maintained.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with directors, camera operators, editors, and other team members to ensure smooth production workflow and achieve project goals.
- Scheduling and Logistics: Coordinate production schedules, locations, equipment rentals, and personnel to ensure efficient project execution.
