(5-2-2025, 9:30PM): Both games went to an extra inning to decide a winner on Friday, with both Grass Lake and Hanover Horton taking a game each.
Grass Lake took game one in dramatic fashion, with a 3-2 walk-off victory. The game was tied at two in the bottom of the 8th when an error scored one run. Hanover-Horton was the first to get on the board in the 2nd when an error scored one run. Makenzie Hilberer doubled to center field on an 0-2 count, which helped GL tie the game at one in the bottom of the sixth. A play gave Hanover-Horton the lead, 2-1, in the top of the eighth.
The Warriors captured the lead, 3-2, in the bottom of the eighth after a Bree Salts base hit with two HH errors, each scoring one run to win. Morgan Conrad earned the win for the Grass Lake Warriors. Conrad allowed five hits and one run (zero earned) over eight innings, striking out six. Alexyn DuBois pitched for the Comets as she went all seven innings, giving up two runs on five hits, and striking out 10.
Hanover Horton walked it off on the final play of the second game. The game was tied at four in the bottom of the 8th when GL pitcher Makenzie Hilberer induced Brooklyn Biela to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored. Grass Lake fell despite leading 4-0 in the 6th. The Warriors were the first to get on the board in the first when a passed ball scored one run. Hanover-Horton tied the game in the bottom of the 7th thanks to a double by Alexyn DuBois, a walk by Amanda Ley, and a hit by a pitch.
DuBois earned the pitching win for the Comets. Emily Brown and Hilberer each collected two hits for Grass Lake. Bryn Biela and DuBois were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for HHHS.
Grass Lake moves to 17-3 on the season, and Hanover Horton improves to 18-3.
