Osterberg, Gumper Looking for More Success at State Track Finals

(May 19, 2024 7:30 AM ET) Lumen Christi Catholic High School distance runner Madison Osterberg is hoping less is more when it comes to the Michigan High School Athletic Association state track and field meet this year. Graham Gumper learned a new race but won’t be performing it for Hanover-Horton at the state finals. Both are state medalists the past few track and field seasons running in the event for the last time. Osterberg is the defending champion in the 1,600-meter run in Division 3. Last year she won a medal in every event but somewhat ran out of gas in the 3,200-run. “I won’t be running in the 3,200-meter run … that is a difficult quad for the state meet,” Osterberg said. “Hopefully we can qualify for the 1,600-meter relay and I can help the team earn points.” Lumen Christi won the 3,200- and 1,600-meter relays at the regional meet at Hillsdale on Friday. She has also qualified for the 800- and 1,600-meter runs. Western, Lumen Christi Earn Trips To State Tennis Finals

Photo courtesy Western High School. (May 15, 2024 8:33 PM ET) Western and Lumen Christi high schools will travel to the Michigan High School Athletic Association state tennis finals in two weeks. The Panthers won the Division 3 title at Battle Creek and Lumen Christi finished second at the D4 regional at Jackson and Lumen Christi. Western finished with 23 points powered by championships in all four doubles flights. Points for the Lumen Christi regional have not been posted as the event ended at 7 p.m. Look for complete results in the JTV Sports Jackson County Sports Scoreboard for May 15 later tonight or early Thursday morning.
