Allegiance Health & Henry Ford Health System Announce Intent to Affiliate

Allegiance Health announced this morning their intent to become a member of Henry Ford Health System (HFHS).  Henry Ford is a five-hospital system headquartered in Detroit.   According to a news release,  Allegiance Health (AH) and Henry Ford Health System have signed a letter of intent to affiliate, with Allegiance Health becoming a member of HFHS.  Full details and terms of the proposed affiliation will be announced, in consultation with key stakeholders and in compliance with regulatory requirements. HFHS is one of the nation’s leading comprehensive, integrated health systems. Founded in 1915 by auto pioneer Henry Ford, the health system is committed to improving the health and well-being of the diverse communities it serves. Michael Hall named first Spring Arbor Bowling head coach

  SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – Spring Arbor University director of athletics Ryan Cottingham has announced that Michael Hall has been named the inaugural head coach of the men's and women's bowling programs at SAU.   "We are elated that Michael Hall has accepted the invitation to be our first bowling coach in the history of Spring Arbor University," said Cottingham. "He embodies the mission of SAU and our athletic department."   Hall comes to Spring Arbor with 25 years of experience in the sport. Prior to his arrival, he spent one year at Cornerstone University where he served as the head men's and women's bowling coach. Hall was instrumental in getting the first-year program off the ground at CU and will be tasked with the same duty at SAU.   "You know, leaving Cornerstone has been bittersweet," said Hall. Christmas Parade Scheduled for November 20

Mark your calendars for Friday, Nov. 20 - the day of this year’s Jackson Christmas parade downtown. The 25th annual parade slated to begin at 6 p.m. is themed “A Silver Bells Christmas” and will feature floats, clowns, costumed characters, marching bands and more. Participants are encouraged to gather at Horace Blackman Park following the parade for a Christmas tree lighting ceremony. After the ceremony, children can visit Mr. and Mrs. Claus at the Michigan Theatre, 124 N. Mechanic St. The parade route starts downtown at Blackstone Street and travels east down Michigan Avenue, ending at Francis Street and tracing the path of the Dig Downtown Construction Project, which is currently wrapping up. The construction is scheduled to finish in the middle of next week, weather permitting. ###

Ventilator Race to Raise Funds for Special Camp

Jackson College respiratory care students will race to raise funds for Camp Michi-MAC in a “5K” Ventilator Race at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 5 in front of Justin Whiting Hall. To commemorate National Respiratory Care Week, Oct. 25-31, students will race in teams around the front circle drive of Justin Whiting Hall pushing ventilator machines. There will be prizes best decorated vent. Individuals or groups may sponsor a team per lap (one lap equals one “kilometer”) or for the total race, five laps. Students have established an online Go Fund Me account at https://www.gofundme.com/jc6sqqf4 for those wishing to donate. Apple cider and donuts will be provided during the event. Camp Michi-MAC, a camp for children with asthma, is conducted at the Skyline Camp and Retreat Center, located in Almont, Lapeer County, Mich. Campers can have a “regular” camp experience because the medical team, who are on site 24 hours a day, understands asthma and allergies, triggers and proper treatment. JTV Wins MarCom Awards for Websites, TV Programs

MarCom Awards today announced winners for the 2015 international awards competition that recognizes outstanding creative achievement by marketing and communication professionals.  JTV, Jackson, MI received Platinum and Gold awards for both website design and television programs.  JTV was awarded Platinum for The Loyal Handyman General Contracting website, Gold for the JTV.TV website and Gold for "True Story", The Cascades Falls episode. Honorable mentions were awarded for the Jackson Anchor Initiative website and for "Art Beat", Ave Veneklasen feature segment on "SoundWave".  There were over 6,500 entries from throughout the United States, Canada and 15 other countries in the 2015 competition. MarCom entries come from corporate marketing and communication departments, advertising agencies, PR firms, design shops, production companies and television networks. The competition has grown to the largest of its kind in the world. A look at the winners shows a range in size from individual communicators to media conglomerates and Fortune 500 companies. MarCom Awards is administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals. The international organization consists of several thousand creative professionals. The Association oversees awards and recognition programs, provides judges and sets standards for excellence.
