(September 20, 2020  9:53 PM) The Michigan Department of Corrections is reporting as of 3:15 PM September 18, there are 5,496 confirmed positive COVID-19 cumulative cases at facilities throughout the state.  Of that statewide total, 1,675 of the confirmed positive cases are at Jackson facilities. Throughout the state corrections system, there are currently 483 active cases. In Jackson, there are 499 confirmed positive COVID-19 cases at Parnall Correctional Facility, 383 at Charles E. Egeler Reception and Guidance Center, 1 at Cooper Street Correctional Facility, 19 at Duane Waters Health Center and 773 at G. Robert Cotton Correctional Facility.  Among staff, there are a total of 498 COVID-19 positive cases statewide.   In Jackson, there are 76 confirmed positive COVID-19 cases among employees at Parnall Correctional Facility, 4 at Cooper Street Correctional Facility, 42 at Charles E. Egeler Reception and Guidance Center, 42 at G. Robert Cotton Correctional Facility and 3 at Jackson Regional Warehouse. There have been a total of 72 deaths (statewide) of prisoners who had tested positive for COVID-19, 22 of those deaths were among prisoners at Jackson facilities.  The Michigan Department of Corrections is listed as a separate jurisdiction in the daily MDHHS report of positive cases in the state. (September 19, 2020 3:59 PM) Michigan reported 483 coronavirus (COVID-19) positive test cases today, with the state reported total now at 115,870. The State of Michigan is reporting 15* COVID-19-related deaths today, with the state total at 6,653. *The deaths announced today include 12 deaths identified during a Vital Records review. (September 18, 2020 11:44 AM) The Jackson County Health Department released the COVID-19 positive numbers for Jackson County.  As of 11:44 AM today, there are 956 positive cases (cumulative), and 41 deaths (cumulative)*.     There are 4 new cases since yesterday’s report. Cumulative recovered, as of September 19, 2020:  717** The Michigan Department of Corrections is reporting as of 4:15 PM September 11, there are 1,678 confirmed positive cases at Jackson facilities and 164 confirmed positive staff cases.  MDOC positive case numbers are cumulative. As of 7 AM September 17, there is 1 person at Henry Ford Allegiance Health being treated as inpatients for COVID-19. (September 18, 2020 12:18 PM) Governor Gretchen Whitmer and the Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services (DIFS) announced that the state has secured agreements from nearly all of the state’s health insurers to waive all out-of-pocket costs for COVID-19 testing and treatments through the end of 2020, including copays, deductibles, and coinsurance. These agreements cover more than 92% of the commercial health insurance market in Michigan.  “Ensuring access to appropriate testing and medical treatment without financial concern is an important part of fighting this virus,” said Governor Gretchen Whitmer. “We’re continuing to work around the clock to slow the spread of this virus and keep people healthy, and I am thankful that Michigan’s health insurers have continued to step up to do their part.”   At least through year’s end, consumers with these individual and group health plans will not be charged cost-sharing for medically appropriate COVID-19-related medical treatment, such as primary care visits, diagnostic testing, emergency room visits, ambulance services, and U.S. Food and Drug Administration-approved medications and vaccines when they become available.  “Once again, our Governor has shown strong leadership to protect the health of the residents of this state,” said DIFS Director Anita Fox. “Eliminating financial barriers to testing and…
