(June 30, 2021 11:39 AM) The Jackson County Health Department released the COVID-19 positive numbers for Jackson County. As of 11:30 AM today, there are 14,738 positive cases (cumulative), and 286 deaths (cumulative)*. There are 2 new cases and 1 new death since yesterday’s report. Cumulative recovered, as of June 30: 14,387** As of 1:30 PM June 28, there are 3 persons at Henry Ford Allegiance Health being treated as inpatients for COVID-19. The cumulative numbers posted on Mondays include the data from Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Recovered numbers are being posted as received. *These numbers do not reflect any cases or deaths identified through Michigan Department of Corrections. Their numbers are listed under a separate category and reported by the state at Michigan Statistics. City of Jackson Announces End of Local State of Emergency
(June 30, 2021 10:13 AM) The City of Jackson today announced the COVID-19 Local State of Emergency is coming to an end. By order of Mayor Derek Dobies, the emergency declaration will officially end at 12:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 1. The end of the Local State of Emergency order means the following for the City: The Jackson City Council will resume in-person meetings in the City Council Chambers. All City Boards and Commissions will resume in-person meetings. Capacity limits in City facilities will be lifted. The MLK Center will hold two final vaccine clinics on Thursday, July 1 and Thursday, July 8 from 1-5 p.m. The emergency declaration signed by Mayor Dobies on March 17, 2020 allowed City leaders to activate the City’s Emergency Operations Plan. Consumers Energy Cleanup Day 6-29-21 | Photo Gallery
(June 29, 2021 7:19 PM) Today, 50 Consumers Energy employee-volunteers in partnership with the City of Jackson pitched in to clean up several parks. Throughout the day, volunteers worked at Ella Sharp Park, MLK Equality Trail, Loomis Park, and the Exchange Playground. Consumers Energy Vice President Scott McIntosh led the volunteer crew as a demonstration of the Company’s commitment to serving its hometown community and to Michigan’s clean future. Cleanup activities volunteers in blue Caring for Community volunteer shirts included mulching, painting, and gardening work. McIntosh told JTV’s Andy Hawley that protecting the planet is important to Consumers Energy employees and is an extension of how Consumers Energy cares for the communities it serves. McIntosh said that the heart of service extends from cleaning parks in the energy provider’s hometown of Jackson to delivering a clean energy future statewide that includes going coal-free by 2025 and achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2040. (June 29, 2021 6:10 PM) Michigan reported 173 coronavirus (COVID-19) positive test cases today, with the state reported total now at 894,433. Michigan is reporting 32* COVID-19-related deaths today with the state total at 19,744. *The deaths announced today includes 27 deaths identified during a Vital Records review. See cumulative data page for more information. State Cumulative Total of Recovered COVID-19 Cases (as of 6/25/21): 865,577. This information is updated Monday through Friday at 3 p.m., with COVID-19 results included as of 10 a.m. Monday reports include Saturday and Sunday data.
