MHSAA BOYS BASKETBALL REGIONAL FINALS DIVISION 4 at Concord Concord 55, Petersburg Summerfield 39: The Bulldogs only came within 8 points of Concord after the first quarter, the Yellowjackets commanded from the opening tip off to win a regional title in front of the home fans on Thursday night. Jett Smith led Concord with 25 points, including a red hot start with 15 of those points in the first quarter. Darrell Dean Jr. added 11 points and Connor Stevens scored 10 points. After a heartbreaker last year, Concord wins its first boys basketball regional title since 1990. CHS will face Colon (22-4) in the state quarterfinal on Tuesday (3/10) at Portage Northern HS. DIVISION 3 at New Lothrop Flint New Standard 61, Springport 53: The game was tight the entire way, but a late lead change in favor of FNS was the ultimate decider as Springport falls just short in New Lothrop. Dallas Higelmire led the Spartans with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 blocks. Jake Kregel added 13 points. Springport finishes the season at 20-6 overall, including the first Big 8 conference title in over 30 years and first district title since 1999.
