Patton, Vikings Basketball Explode in Fourth Quarter

By Jeff Steers JTV Sports Jackson High School girls’ basketball Coach Nacoya Weatherspoon said senior Jada Patton has to “find here inner peace” to be successful. Patton must have found it in the fourth quarter against Lumen Christi Catholic High School on Tuesday night at home. She exploded for 10 points in the final quarter as the Vikings pulled out a 50-39 win over their rivals from across town. With the win the Vikings improved to 3-2 overall, while Lumen Christi lost its first game of the season. The Titans are 3-1 on the young campaign. Lumen Christi led 30-28 heading into the final eight minutes of action. Patton scored eight consecutive points as the Vikings pulled away for the win. “We just had to adjust and trust one another,” Weatherspoon said. “Jada has to stay calm and under control for us.” She did that finishing with 16 points and six rebounds. “When I am out of control, I don’t play right,” Patton said. “When I do play under control, it is good for the team. “Tonight was a good…

Spring Arbor University Mens Basketball Wins First Ever NAIA National Championship
Spring Arbor University Men’s Basketball has won their first-ever NAIA National Championship with a victory of 82-76 over Oregon Tech in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on Tuesday night. This was the fifth game the Cougars have played in 7 days. “It’s surreal right now,” SAU head coach Ryan Cottingham said. “You dream about this as a player and a coach and you never really think it’s going to happen. I’m at a loss for words right now, because this is a special group of young men, who love each other and play with great passion. We played at an incredibly high level these past five games, and we couldn’t even really soak it in because of how quick the turnaround was for each game. I knew these guys were champions before we even got here, but now we get to celebrate. Everything just clicked for us here in Sioux Falls.” The Cougars came out of the gate strong. Luke Barber shot the game’s opening three-pointer, giving SAU an early lead.
