BOYS BASKETBALL

Lumen Christi 64, Riverview Gabriel Richard 56: The Titans defeat the defending Division 3 state champs and catholic league rival in their season opener at home on Friday. Ashton Callan led LC with 35 points, Jonathan Morgan added 23 points. “We allowed no threes in the second quarter, I thought we did a really good job of adjusting defensively as the game went on,” said Lumen Christi HC Josh Tropea. “Ashton Callan is the best player in Jackson County, and it’s not close. To have a player with 35 points and almost 20 rebounds as a sophomore is something special. We can’t expect that from him every night but to have him and Jonathan (Morgan) was a great 1-2 punch tonight.”
