BOYS BASKETBALL

Northwest 61, Western 57: This contest helped strengthen the rivalry between the two schools, as it was back and forth the entire second half. After being down by nine at halftime, Western took a one point lead after the 3rd thanks to an electric 15 points in the quarter from Chance Pangborn. NW scored the first five points of the 4th quarter and remained in the lead the rest of the way. A couple of key baskets late from Jayden Willis helped PWHS cut the deficit to just two with 30 seconds left. The Mounties held on to win by four and pick up an I-8 conference win on the road. Roe DeDeaux scored 24 points to lead Northwest. Chance Pangborn finished with 27 points for the Panthers.

 

Leslie 70, Napoleon 46: Roman DeRose led the Blackhawks with 19 points and Joel Cranmore added 17 points. Gavin Davis led Napoleon with 14 points. Leslie remains undefeated in conference play at 7-0 and now 9-2 overall. Napoleon has still won 8 of their last 10 games and is one of four teams in the Cascades-East with 8 wins or more.

 

Michigan Center 76, Grass Lake 36: Tre Collins scored 25 points to lead the Cardinals. Jayden Watson added 14 points and 6 rebounds plus an emphatic posterising dunk in the second quarter to highlight his night.

 

Lumen Christi 55, AA Father Gabriel Richard 40: Broden Burgess scored 19 points to lead the Titans. Kellen Crowley added 13 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. FGR scored just three baskets the entire second half.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Chelsea 58, Jackson 37

 

Hanover Horton 48, Jonesville 43: HH held on late in the battle of the Comets on Friday to earn a key Cascades-West victory. Aly Stroede scored 14 points and dished 5 assists to lead Hanover Horton. Maggie and Molly Soper each added 9 points.

 

Western 63, Northwest 37: The Mounties’ boys team held onto a victory, but the Lady Panthers took home a victory of their own to split the rivalry doubleheader on Friday. Western is now 8-2 overall and hosts D1 Detroit Edison on Wednesday (1/21).

 

Jackson Christian 58, Camden-Frontier 9: Rennie Huff led the Royals with 26 points and 5 steals. Johannah Loew added 10 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists.

 

Concord 61, Springport 19: Bradie Lehman scored 19 points, and Cieara Barrett and Avery Arbuckle each added 11 to lead the Yellowjackets to a home victory. Concord is now 9-1 on the season including 5-0 in the Big 8.

BOWLING

Napoleon 18, Michigan Center 12: Strong performances from Peyton Thorne (174-213), Lukas Curylo (179-195), and Nolan Williams (169-189) helped the Pirates (now 7-1-0) win at Suburban Lanes.
