BASEBALL

Columbia Central 17, Hanover Horton 5: Conor Rentfrow and Noah Dankert each drove in four runs to lead the Golden Eagles in game one. Rentfrow, Chase Dukate, and Blayden Steller each had three hits. Noah and Jordan Dankert, Camden Dukate, and Lukas Calhoun each added two hits. Rentfrow also earned the pitching win, throwing 12 strikeouts in six innings.

 

Columbia Central 15, Hanover Horton 0: Conor Rentfrow had another monster game to lead CC as they swept the Comets. Rentfrow drove in six runs on three hits. Four other players batted two hits each. #2 ranked Columbia Central has now won eight straight and improves to 25-3 overall.

 

Grass Lake 9, Leslie 5: Luke Guthrie drove in three runs on two hits to lead the Warriors in game one. Gavin Killinger batted three hits, and Noah Orban and Cam Prater each added two hits. Orban was also the winning pitcher.

 

Grass Lake 8, Leslie 7: Chase Laughlin drew a walk in the 7th inning, scoring a run and winning it for the Warriors. Laughlin batted a hit and drove in three runs. Cam Prater, Collin Knight, and Noah Orban each batted two hits. #8 ranked Grass Lake picks up two huge conference wins, they are now 20-0 in Cascades play and 22-7 overall.

 

Napoleon 8, East Jackson 4: The Pirates scored six runs in the 6th inning to put things away in game one. Logan Hankis batted two hits to lead Napoleon. Tyler Nall was the winning pitcher, throwing 11 strikeouts and allowing just two hits.

 

Napoleon 15, East Jackson 0: Four different players combined for the Pirates’ four hits in game two, and Gage Breining was the winning pitcher. Napoleon improves to 17-10 overall.

 

(CHSL Semifinal) Lumen Christi 2, Macomb Lutheran North 1: Gibson Shore batted two hits for the Titans in the Catholic league semifinal, and Paul Sattler drove in two runs. Wes Learned led the team thanks to a dominant pitching performance, throwing 16 strikeouts and allowing just three hits. LC has now won 13 games in a row and improves to 26-7.

 

Addison 3, Vandercook Lake 2

 

Vandercook Lake 10, Addison 6: Darius Stephens batted 4-4 to lead the Jayhawks in game two. Hunter Kurzynowski, David Arbogast, and Justin Barnes each added two hits. Arbogast also took the win on the mound for VCL, they split the conference doubleheader and snapped a four-game losing streak.

 

SOFTBALL

Grass Lake 13, Leslie 0: Taylor Dick batted 3-3 with an RBI to lead the Warriors in game one. Mikayla Jurek and Makenzie Hilberer each added two hits.

 

Grass Lake 11, Leslie 4: Kennedy Collins drove in three runs on two hits to lead GL in game two. Leilah Smith, Aubrey Demosiuk, and Addalynn Hensen each added two hits. Morgan Conrad threw 10 strikeouts in the circle and took the win. GL has now won 10 straight games and improves to 24-2 overall.

 

Northwest 4, Olivet 1: Shannon Christner batted all three of the Mounties’ hits in game one. Bailey Krutsch earned the win in the circle, throwing nine strikeouts.

 

Northwest 10, Olivet 5: Claira Post drove in four runs with a hit to help lead NW to a sweep. Kennedy Krutsch, Shannon Christner, and Casey Jahr each added two hits. Northwest picks up their first two wins of the season with the non-league sweep.

MHSAA TRACK & FIELD REGIONALS

Division 1 at Grand Ledge: Jackson Vikings boys placed 12th out of 16 teams at GLHS, and 12th on the girls side. Northwest boys placed 16th. Full results here

 

Division 2 at Williamston: The defending D2 state champ, Parma Western boys, took 4th place with 75.33 team points. Michigan Center boys placed 14th. Western girls placed 8th, and Michigan Center took 11th. Full results here

 

Division 3 at Hillsdale: Hanover Horton had a successful day on the boys side, placing 3rd as a team and had qualifiers for the state finals in 10 different events. Lumen Christi placed 6th, Springport finished 10th, and Napoleon finished 11th. JJ Russ of HHHS just edged out LC’s Johnny Walters in the 100 meter race, while Walters took first in the 200 and 400 meter races. Chad Tyson of HH took 1st in the 1600m. Tucker Wiginton of Springport took home the win in the pole vault. In the girls events, Lumen Christi placed 2nd, Napoleon in 3rd, and Hanover Horton finished 9th. Kloe Franklin of LC won the 100 meter race. Samantha Schroeder won both the 800 and 1600m events for the Titans. Napoleon girls had winners in the 4×100 and 200 relay races. Full results here

 

Division 4 at Concord: The host Yellowjackets placed 4th in the boys events, and Jackson Prep tying for 5th. Jordon Patrick of JPEC won the 100 and 400 meter races. Concord took home the win in the 4×100 relay. Dallas Swaenepoel of Vandercook Lake won the boys pole vault. On the girls side, Concord took home the regional trophy on their home track. Bradie Lehman won the 100 and 200 meter races. Audrey Pyle won both the 800 and 1600 meter events. Concord also won all four girls relay events, and Annie Saenz won the high jump. Full results here
