BASEBALL

Springport 10, Hillsdale 0 – Clutch hitting by Marshall Shoemaker helped SHS take game one. Shoemaker batted 2-for-3 with 4 RBIs. Drew Kregel and Gibson Overweg each added two hits for the Spartans.

Springport 11, Hillsdale 5 – Bo Lightner led the bats for Springport in game two, tallying two hits. SHS improved to 21-3 overall and clinched the Big 8 Conference earlier this week.

 

Columbia Central 12, Hanover Horton 2 – Six different players for CC tallied at least two hits in the dominant game one victory. Conor Rentfrow earned the pitching win for the Golden Eagles.

Columbia Central 17, Hanover Horton 2 – Five different Golden Eagles batted two hits to sweep the doubleheader. CC scored eight runs in the 2nd inning to help win the mercy rule game and improve to 23-5.

 

Napoleon 17, East Jackson 7 – Logan Hankis batted 4-for-4 with 5 RBIs to lead the Pirates, and Grant Straub added three hits.

Napoleon 5, East Jackson 3 – Napoleon could only bat two hits in game two, but got the job done to sweep the Cascades-East doubleheader. AJ Buckley earned the pitching win for the Pirates.

 

Grass Lake 6, Leslie 3 – Jacob Collins and Manny Schafran each had three hits to lead the Warriors.

Grass Lake 10, Leslie 0 – GL scored four runs in both of the first two innings to sweep the doubleheader. Walker McKibbin earned the pitching win for the Warriors.

 

Manchester 6, Michigan Center 5

Michigan Center 7, Manchester 3 – The Cardinals could only muster two hits in game two but won to split the doubleheader. Layton Stanley earned the pitching win for MC.

Springport 15, Hillsdale 0 – Jordan Reed drove in four runs on two hits to lead Springport past Hillsdale on Friday. Reed doubled in the first inning, scoring two runs, and singled in the fourth inning, scoring two. Morgan Shoemaker struck out 10 batters on the day. The starter also allowed zero hits and zero runs over four innings while walking two.

Springport 10, Hillsdale 0 – Ashlyn Underhill struck out 10 batters as the pitcher led Springport past Hillsdale on Friday. Underhill gave up two hits and zero runs over five innings while walking none.

 

Hanover Horton 5, Columbia Central 3 – Alexyn DuBois struck out 13 batters and allowed just two hits on 119 pitches for HH. DuBois and Tori King also had two hits each for the Comets in game one.

(8 inn.) Columbia Central 7, Hanover Horton 5 – HH took a 4-3 lead in the 7th, but a gritty comeback by the Golden Eagles to win in an extra inning helped split the doubleheader. Gianna Evans batted 3-for-4 with 3 RBIs to lead the Golden Eagles. Three other Eagles batted two hits, and Camden Knapp earned the pitching win. Hanover Horton was led by two hits each from Hallee Swihart, Amanda Ley, and Tori King. Hanover Horton is now 30-4 overall and Columbia Central improves to 23-6 as both stay close in the race for the Cascades Conference alongside Grass Lake.

 

Napoleon 13, East Jackson 3 – Kaitlyn Fall was dominant in the circle, as the pitcher rang up 12 strikeouts in the victory over EJ on Friday. Fall surrendered five hits and three runs over six innings while walking one. Napoleon scored seven runs in the sixth inning on the way to victory.

Napoleon 16, East Jackson 1 – Hayden Rendall drove in five runs on three hits to lead Napoleon past East Jackson on Friday. Rendall hit an inside the park home run in the second scoring three, doubled in the first scoring one, and singled in the third scoring one.

 

Grass Lake 16, Leslie 1 – Emily Brown batted 3-for-3 with an RBI to lead the Warriors bats. Bree Salts added two hits and four RBIs.

Grass Lake 17, Leslie 2 – Leilah Smith batted 4-for-5 with 3 RBIs to lead the Warriors as nine different players collected a hit. Grass Lake improves to 28-4 and continues a tight race to the finish line in the Cascades with Hanover Horton and Columbia Central.

 

Northwest 15, Brighton 3 – Lucy Bivens drives in six runs to lead the Mounties, Bivens was one of five players to tally two hits. Ava Golightly batted three hits with two RBIs in the single game.

Grass Lake 4, Jonesville 0 – Audrey Coppernal and Adelynn Kidd each scored two goals to lead the Warriors.

 

BOYS GOLF

Lenawee Christian at Jackson Christian (Ella Sharp Park GC): Jackson Christian earned the victory against LCS on Friday, shooting a 183 team total.

 

MHSAA TRACK & FIELD REGIONALS:

Division 1 at Mason: Jackson High School took home six medals in the MHSAA D1 Track & Field Regional and will have qualifiers for the D1 State Finals, which will be held on Saturday May 31st at East Kentwood HS. Full results here.

 

Division 2 at Williamston: Western finished top five as a team in both boys and girls at the Williamston regional. The MHSAA D2 State Finals will be held at Hamilton HS on May 31st. Full results here.

 

Division 3 at East Jackson: Grass Lake girls win another regional championship and qualify for the D3 State Finals once again to headline the night. Both boys and girls athletes will participate in the D3 State Finals on May 31st at Kent City HS. Full results here.

 

Division 4 at Concord: Concord girls win another regional championship and the boys team took home 2nd place as a team. The MHSAA D4 State Finals will be on May 31st at Kingsford HS. Full results here.
