BASEBALL

Springport 12, Stockbridge 2: Gavin Lightner batted 3-3 with 4 RBIs to lead the Spartans in game one. Hunter Miller and Andon Zeiner each added two hits. Ripken Overweg was the winning pitcher, throwing 10 strikeouts in five innings.

 

Springport 10, Stockbridge 1: Gibson Overweg dominated on the mound for Springport in game two as they swept the Panthers. Overweg threw 13 strikeouts and allowed just one hit in a complete game. Springport is now 24-5 overall with six straight wins.

 

Hanover Horton 20, Addison 0: HH scored 13 runs in the fifth inning to seal the deal and win the single conference game. Cameron Sherwood and Slade Feller each batted three hits to lead the Comets, including five RBIs from Sherwood. HH improves to 15-16 overall.

 

Parma Western 5, BC Harper Creek 0: The win in game one clinched the I-8 conference title for the Western Panthers, they split the doubleheader in Battle Creek. Andrew Parrott and Chase Budd each batted two hits for Western, Parrott was also the winning pitcher. PWHS improves to 26-4 and will play at Bridgman on Saturday to finish the regular season.

 

BC Harper Creek 5, Parma Western 1

 

Vandercook Lake 10, Litchfield 4: Hunter Kurzynowski batted three hits to lead the Jayhawks in game one. Justin Barnes was the winning pitcher, throwing nine strikeouts and allowing just one hit in four innings.

 

Vandercook Lake 17, Litchfield 1: David Arbogast batted 4-4 with a whopping 7 RBIs to lead VCL. Justin Barnes batted two hits with three RBIs including a home run. Christian Lee and Tanner Sildak each added two hits.

 

Quincy 9, Concord 4

Quincy 22, Concord 0

Western baseball clinched the I-8 Conference title on Tuesday.

SOFTBALL

Springport 8, Stockbridge 2: Morgan Shoemaker batted 2-2 with 2 RBIs to help lead the Spartans in game one. Ashlyn Underhill batted three hits, and Brooklyn Love added two hits. Shoemaker also had an exceptional day in the circle, throwing 11 strikeouts.

 

Springport 8, Stockbridge 0: Kendall Petrak and Peyton Collier each batted two hits for Springport to take the Big 8 sweep. Morgan Shoemaker threw 10 strikeouts and allowed just one hit in the circle. Springport is now 24-6 overall.

 

BC Harper Creek 10, Parma Western 0

 

Parma Western 11, BC Harper Creek 8: Boston Hoffius and Maycee Degroat each batted four hits to lead the Panthers in game two. Western splits the I-8 doubleheader and is now 15-14 overall.

T-6th: Cam Pasch, Leslie; Ayden Boyk, Hanover Horton (84)

 

Big 8 Conference Championship:

1st: Maximilian Argumedo, Springport (80)

2nd: Brody Baum, Springport (81)

3rd: Wyatt Loso, Stockbridge (82)

4th: Braylon Estlow, Quincy (83)

5th: Brady Garrett, Concord (84)

 

SEC-White Conference Championship:

1st: Brayden Norton, Jackson (73)

3rd: Leo Nguyen, Jackson (78)

T-5th: Eli Bowman, Jackson (82)

For the first time in over 25 years, Columbia Central HS wins the conference title in boys golf. CC took home first place as a team at Ella Sharp Park GC on Tuesday.

TRACK & FIELD

Cascades Conference Championship: Hanover Horton’s boys team finishes the regular season undefeated and claims the conference title, Columbia Central placed 2nd and Jonesville took 3rd. Grass Lake’s girls team took their conference title for a 6th straight season, Napoleon finished in second and Hanover Horton edges out Manchester for 3rd. Full results here

 

I-8 Conference Championship: Western took 2nd place in both the boys and girls events, and Northwest placed 6th in both. Full results here
