The Jackson City Council will hold a special meeting this Thursday at 6:30pm to consider adopting language for a ballot proposal in May. Vice Mayor Derek Dobies explained the special meeting was needed to allow council members time to study the issue. The vote failed when first presented Tuesday. The proposal, if adopted, will request city voters approve a ten year 3 mill road funding tax. The tax would allow the reconstruction of twenty miles of city streets over two years. Other guests: Michigan Center Schools Superintendent Scott Koziol; Pat Willis and Dan Machnik, Willis & Machnik Financial Services; Jackson Area Catholic Schools Principals Kristi Blair (St. John’s), Liz Hartley (Queen’s) and Matt Berkemeier (St. Mary’s); Hillsdale County Sheriff Deputy John Gates, Polar Plunge; Sue Lovell, Cascades Humane Society Pet of the Week.
