Jackson Mayor Jason Smith explained the hiring of Bethany Smith as full-time city attorney at last night’s council meeting was by a 6-1 vote, with the Mayor the dissenting vote. He explained he supports the hiring, but indicated a preference to shop around a bit first. Bethany Smith as served as interim city attorney since the retirement of Julius Giglio.
