(June 22, 2020 10:18 AM) The City of Jackson is in the process of slowly reopening City facilities and restarting recreation programs following COVID-19 shutdowns and the Jackson YMCA is launching outdoor exercise classes this week.
The Jackson YMCA has erected a large tent in the parking lot east of the Y and will be using open air areas surrounding the building.
The City of Jackson has two exercise classes beginning in the next two weeks in the open air of Jackson’s public parks.
The Y classes are being held Monday thru Saturday and the complete schedule can be found at JacksonYMCA.org
The two city classes:
PILATES: Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m. starting June 30. Class taking place in the Rose Garden of Ella Sharp Park. The Rose Garden is located on the south side of the main entrance off Oakwood Drive.
YOGA: Thursdays at 5:30 p.m. starting July 2. Class taking place in Loomis Park, south of the Edgewood Street parking lots.
Both classes will take place through the fall. All participants will need to bring their own mats and yoga props. Payment is accepted at class sessions. Cancellations for inclement weather will be posted on the City’s Facebook page by 4:30 p.m. the day of the class.
Earlier this month, the City announced the reopening of outdoor recreation facilities, such as playgrounds and basketball courts, and a slow roll out of outdoor recreation activities. More activities may be added throughout the summer as restrictions are lifted.
