(August 14, 2023 2:00 PM ET) After 11 years in the LCAA, Brooklyn Columbia Central is making the move to the Cascades Conference as one of the four new schools (Leslie, Jonesville, Homer).

Columbia finished 1-8 last season but lost three times by one possession or less. “1-8 but a lot of positive things that came out from last season. We were competitive in almost every game,” said head Coach Dylan Zaborowski.

Coach Zaborowski is entering his second year at the helm for the Golden Eagles, he is a former player and assistant coach from Michigan Center under Troy Allen. Dylan has also been teaching at the school for 3 years. John Lesinski is also returning as the Defensive Coordinator for his second season (seventh total in the program).

Players can appreciate his youth and also relate to him with sports, life, and other things.

Coach Zaborowski has nine starters returning on offense and five on defense, including Broden Steinke (OL/DE), Braden Ellison (RB/OLB), Tahjon Majors (OL/DL, all-LCAA in 2022), Ben O’Neill (QB), and Anthony Sclafani-Calles (WR/OLB).

Other newcomers expected to make an impact include Christian Millican (WR/DB), Blake Hoskins (TE/LB), and Peyton Denning (QB/WR/DB).

“We have to win close games this year,” said Zaborowski. They expect to be much better this season because of physically growing more plus experience.

They open the 2023 campaign by visiting Adrian Madison.
