Update:  Jackson Public Schools will be providing food service through April 10 and continue the same hours and locations.

Vandercook Lake Schools is offering delivery.  Meals can be delivered by filling out the form on the district’s website here.

Since this listing was first published, the Governor extended the school closure order through April 13.   The first day schools can return to class is Tuesday, April 14, after Gov. Gretchen Whitmer on Monday ordered Michigan residents to stay in their homes through midnight, April 13.

Schools had previously been ordered closed by Whitmer for three weeks, with classes possibly reopening April 6.

As other Jackson County School Districts adjust their meal service schedule, this post will be updated.

All Jackson County school districts will be providing breakfast and lunch during the state mandated school shutdown.

This is the complete list of Jackson County school districts, sites and hours.  Jackson Public Schools listed first, followed by all other Jackson County school districts in alphabetical order.

Please note the days and times for each district.

ALL SCHOOL DISTRICTS are providing meals and you do not have to live in that particular district.  Each district meal service is open to ALL JACKSON COUNTY CHILDREN age 18 and under, including young children not yet in school.  Children attending charter and private schools are welcome at all districts.  Some districts are providing meals during the previously scheduled Spring Break, but not all.   All days/hours/locations are subject to change.  All school district contact information is included at the end of this article.

All meals are not to be consumed on site.  No dining space is being provided.

Jackson Public Schools

During the mandated State of Michigan shut down, JPS will be providing breakfast and lunch to ALL Jackson County school age children.  Children do not need to be present when picking up meals, rather parents may come and request the number of meals needed.  Please see information below on procedures and locations.   If you have other questions regarding community resources please utilize 2-1-1 service.

Jackson Public Schools recognizes that students are in need of healthy meals each day. To that end we have put together a list of sites where meals will be available for children. At this time, the USDA has lifted the requirement that meals must be eaten on site. Families will be asked to come to the service point and given meals. Each day we will hand out one lunch for the day and one breakfast for the next day per child. On Fridays we will provide 3 lunches and 3 breakfasts per child to help sustain them over the weekend. All meals will be distributed in individual bags. We are pleased to be able to provide meals for children at the sites below at the listed times.

We will serve meals Monday-Friday from March 16 – April 10, 2020. (UPDATED)
