The annual Concord Classic begins Wednesday night with the ORS Concord Classic 5K Run/Walk/Kids Run. The races begin at 7:30 pm. Race headquarters is at Concord High School, 219 Monroe Street in Concord. Event schedule: 7:30 pm – 5k run/walk. 8:40 pm – Kids’ 1/2 Mile Run. There is still time to register! The Concord Classic will be run on a fairly flat, fast course. Each year the event draws around 300 participants with the proceeds benefiting the Concord High School cross country team and overall running in the community. Awards will be given to the overall winners of the men’s and women’s run and walk, to the overall Masters Winners for the Men’s and Women’s 5K Run and Walk. In addition, there will also be awards for the top three finishers in each age division. Participants in the Kids Run will receive a ribbon.
The Concord Classic continues with Concord Classic Weekend with a festival, classic car show, sports tournaments and entertainment. Friday’s activities include a Downtown Block Party at 5:30 PM and an adult Cornhole Tourney starting at 6 PM.
On Saturday, the Classic Car Show begins at 12:00pm. Live music throughout the afternoon and evening with Paper Lanterns, Garrett Collier & Sadie Bass, and The Metros. Sports tournaments on Saturday are the Youth Cornhole Tourney at 3 PM and Adult Couples Cornhole at 6 PM. The day concludes with fireworks at 10 PM.
Sunday, events include a golf scramble, baseball, basketball, volleyball, softball tourneys. A euchre tourney is at 2PM. Sunday’s entertainment by Secondary Road. To register for tourneys, click here.
