(July 11, 2023 10:32 AM ET) The City of Jackson announced today construction projects are beginning this week on two busy city streets.  Resurfacing projects on Wildwood Avenue and N. Wisner Street are getting started and will take place through early Aug., bringing lane closures and detours to Jackson’s west side.

The resurfacing project on Wildwood Avenue between Steward Avenue and N. West Avenue kicked off on Monday, July 10. Wildwood Avenue is a major street that connects the downtown area to neighborhoods and commercial districts on Jackson’s west side. During the construction period, Wildwood will remain open for westbound traffic only so driveways within the work zone will remain accessible. Eastbound traffic will be redirected with detour signage. The roadway will receive new pavement, along with sidewalk and driveway repairs. Because this section of Wildwood includes Jackson High School, crews are prioritizing getting the project complete before the new school year.

The project on N. Wisner Street between Wildwood Avenue and W. Ganson Street is set to begin on Monday, July 17. This section of the street contains businesses and shopping centers. Two-way traffic will be maintained through the construction. N. Wisner is set to receive a new street surface, along with sidewalk and driveway repairs.

Crews anticipate completing both projects by Aug. 10. The completion date is subject to change due to weather, equipment or labor delays. Updates will be posted on the City website and Facebook page.
