As part of the Michigan Department of Transportation’s $4.5 million project to repair nine bridges this year along I-94 between Airport Road and the Jackson/Calhoun county line, there will be a continuous single-lane closure on I-94 after Labor Day for work at Michigan Avenue over I-94 and I-94 over Parma Road and Concord Road.

Beginning Tuesday, September 6, there will be an around-the-clock single-lane closure in each direction on I-94 between Concord Road and Parma Road. The single-lane closure will be in place until the end of the project in early November.

For Michigan Avenue traffic, the bridge over I-94 will be closed and a detour posted using neighboring interchanges. For Parma Road and Concord Road, there will be one lane maintained with a flagger.

A “stopped traffic advisory system” will be in place on I-94 in advance of the work zone to alert motorists of possible slowing traffic ahead. The system includes message boards displaying traffic warnings beginning 6 miles ahead of the work zone.
