The new Michigan Corrections Officer Training Academy is coming to Jackson College this year, offering training programs 3 or 4 times each year starting in 2014.  Recent legislation allows colleges to offer an eight-week training academy for corrections officers.  Mary Jo Kennedy, Criminal Justice Coordinator at Jackson College, said the new academy is being offered to meet the growing demand of Corrections and to provide an excellent career option for JC students.  Kennedy explained there are several other career offerings with the criminal justice program and details are available online.  Other guests:  Tim Bos covers the Michigan Auctioneering Championship in Lansing;  Rod Malloy, Executive Director of Dahlem;  Promoting “Paws & Claws Pet Expo” Saturday:  Lisa Bonney, Executive Director, Cascades Humane Society with Jessica Lutz, American 1 Credit Union (event sponsor);  Pet of the Week with Sue Lovell, Cascades Humane Society.
