(October 26, 2022 4:13 PM) The road to the Michigan High School Athletic Association state cross country finals continues this weekend with regional competitions at various events. 

Napoleon High School will host Division 3 and Division 4 competitions on Friday with 10 area schools competing.

The three top teams at each regional qualify for the state meet Nov. 5, at Michigan International Speedway.

The top seven individuals and all seven members of the qualifying schools will also run at the state meet.

Here are the dates, locations, and times of Jackson County schools that will compete at regionals. 

Division 1

Friday, Oct. 28, Brighton (Huron Meadows Metro Park), 4:20 p.m. – Ann Arbor Skyline, Brighton, Davison, Dexter, Fenton, Flint Carman-Ainsworth, Flushing, Grand Blanc, Hartland, Holly, Howell, Jackson, Lapeer, South Lyon South Lyon East, and Swartz Creek.  

Division 2

Saturday, Oct. 29 DeWitt High School 9 a.m. – Charlotte, Corunna, DeWitt, Eaton Rapids, Fowlerville, Haslett, Lansing Eastern, Lansing Sexton, Lansing Waverly, Mason, Northwest, Olivet, Owosso, St. Johns, Western, and Williamston. 

Division 3

Friday, Oct. 28 (at Ella Sharp Park) 3 p.m. – Adrian Madison, Bronson, Columbia Central, Hanover-Horton, Hillsdale, Homer, Hudson, Jonesville, Leslie, Lumen Christi, Michigan Center, Napoleon, Onsted, Quincy, Sand Creek, Springport, and Union City. 

Saturday, Oct. 29 Division 3 at Ann Arbor Huron (Willow Metropark) 10 a.m. – Ann Arbor Greenhills, Blissfield, Canton Prep, Clinton, Dearborn Advanced Tech, Dearborn Heights Star, Detroit Cristo Rey, Detroit Voyageur, Erie Mason, Grass Lake, Hope of Detroit, Ida, Manchester, Monroe St. Mary, Ottawa Lake Whiteford, and Ypsilanti Arbor Prep.

Friday, Oct. 28 (Portage West Middle School) 3 p.m. – Athens, Climax-Scotts, Colon, Concord, Decatur, Heritage Academy, Howardsville, Kalamazoo Hackett, Marcellus, Mendon, St. Philip, Tekonsha, and White Pigeon.  

HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 8 PM FRIDAY.  Heat index values up to around 100 expected.  Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.  The prolonged impacts of hot temperatures and high humidity this week will increase potential for heat related illnesses.  Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
