(June 17, 2023 4:48 PM ET) Scott Denig shot a 5-under-par 66 at Sharp Park Golf Course Saturday earning the medalist honors for the annual Lyle Ambs Match Play Championship.
The top 15 – plus defending champion Cannon Risner – will play match-play rounds beginning next Saturday and concluding on Sunday.
The remainder of the golfers will play in yet-to-be-determined flight(s).
Denig won the title in 2021 and the Jackson City Championship in 2017.
Nick Reynolds finished second in the qualifying round with a 2-under-par 69. and Greg Zeller, Zach DeFrain, Chris Chaney, and Paul Varner all shot even-par rounds of 71.
Match play rounds will be played Saturday morning and second rounds in the afternoon. Semifinal matches will be played Sunday morning and the championship match in the afternoon.
