Jackson County Sheriff Steve Rand hosted the department’s annual awards ceremony at the Cascades Manor House Wednesday evening, May 18.  The Sheriff presented awards and commendations to members of the department for actions and heroics performed in the past year.

The Deputy of the Year award was presented to Kelly Rybicki.  Corrections Deputy of the Year recipient was Gregory Conley.  Guthrie Colby was presented the Dispatcher of the Year and Kathy Reiser, Civilian of the Year.

The Sheriff recognized Pastor Jerry Cox with the annual Citizen Award.  Pastor Cox volunteers his time providing spiritual counseling and other help to inmates.

The Deputy of the Year honorees were chosen by their peers and each winner’s list of accomplishments was announced during the presentations.

Other awards presented included Term Awards, Departmental Commendations, Hours of Service and Supervisor’s Award.  The Sheriff noted the department’s large roster of volunteers is responsible for much of the community’s safety during events and at special occasions.
