
(March 1, 2023 3:47 PM ET) Jackson County Prosecuting Attorney Jerry Jarzynka announced that Drug Summit 7 will be held on March 8, 2023 at the American 1 Event Center. The Drug Summit is being co-hosted by the Jackson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office and Drug Free Jackson.
Drug Summit 7 is free and open to the public, and lunch will be provided. The Summit will begin at 8:20 a.m. and finish at 2:45 p.m.

This Summit will focus on the devastating problem of heroin and prescription opioid abuse in our community and in particular, the emergence of fentanyl and its connection with drug overdose deaths in our community, state and country. Citizens are invited to attend and learn more about this issue and what you can do to help.
The keynote speaker will be Dr. Cara Poland who is an expert in addiction medicine and she will talk about the current state of heroin and prescription opioid abuse after the COVID epidemic. Michigan State Police Lieutenant Ben Garrison will also speak about emerging drug trends and the impact of fentanyl, especially in Jackson County. There will be several panel discussions involving those in recovery, including one panel from Andy’s Place. In addition, there will be a youth panel discussing the opioid issue. There will also be providers offering free information and resources about recovery from substance abuse.
