(6-4-2025, 7:30PM): Both teams have been exceptional and state-ranked at some point this season, and they battled on Wednesday in the D3 Regional Semifinal at Hudson. The Onsted Wildcats pounced on the Warriors early, racking up 4 hits in the first inning, including Luke Manders hitting a 2-RBI double to left field to take a 2-0 lead.
The Wildcats did not let off the gas in the second as JT Hill hit a single on a grounder over 2nd base. Lucas Arnold hit him home with an RBI single to center field. Onsted leading 3-0 in the second inning, the Warriors made a pitching change, bringing Brayden Lape to the mound. Both teams after the 2nd inning struggled and were scoreless until the 7th.
Manders sent another runner home on an RBI single to extend the lead, 4-0. Jack Tessier had a sacrificial RBI as he was thrown out at first but sent a runner home to take the 5 run advantage and end the scoring.
Grass Lake made a late push in the 7th started by Collin Knight hitting a single. Gavin Killinger then hit a ball to left field to send the runner home, registering an RBI double to get the Warriors on the board. The scoring was closed out with Cameron Prater hitting an RBI single.
Onsted closed it out in the 7th to win 5-2 and advance to the Regional Final.
Luke Manders had 2 hits that sent 3 runners home for Onsted. JT Hill, and Lucas Arnold also had two hits. Luke Guthrie, Gavin Killinger and Cam Prater each had a hit for Grass Lake. GL finishes the 2025 season at 32-5 overall with a 5th straight Cascades Conference championship.
Onsted will face the Lumen Christi/Leslie winner at Adrian College on Saturday at 10am for the D3 Regional Final.
