(August 25, 2022 4:37 PM) The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will close the Elm Road entrance ramp to eastbound I-94 in Jackson on Friday.

The closure will begin at 7 AM on Friday, August 26 and is scheduled to reopen on Tuesday, October 4.

The posted detour will direct traffic to the M-106 (Cooper Street) interchange via Elm Road, Ganson Street, and M-106 (Cooper Street) to enter eastbound I-94. Motorists should expect delays.

In addition,  MDOT will have a single-lane closure on eastbound I-94 between Elm Road and US-127 southbound on Friday from 7 a.m to 3 p.m. This lane closure will precede a shift of both directions of traffic to westbound I-94 to allow the contractor to begin rebuilding the eastbound lanes.

This work is part of MDOT’s ongoing $120 million investment to rebuild and widen I-94 near the Airport Road interchange to just west of the east US-127/I-94 interchange in Blackman and Leoni Township. The I-94 project involves upgrading the US-127/M-50 (West Avenue)/I-94 interchange to a diverging diamond interchange, the Elm Road interchange with roundabouts, and the Lansing Avenue bridge over I-94.
