The Jackson Downtown Development Authority presents the Grand River Farmers Market, today and tomorrow from 8am to 2pm. The market, featuring seasonal farmers and other vendors is at Grand River Marketplace, corner of Glick Highway and Mechanic Street in Downtown Jackson.
The August Downtown Jackson Cruise In is tonight. Join us for our family oriented event featuring classic cars on display throughout the Downtown Streets of Jackson. The event takes place from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. This month we will welcome the 2017 Model A Round-Up. We will be welcoming 150 Model A’s. They will be parked on Michigan Ave, N. Jackson St, (on the west side of the street), Pearl St. and in the Hayes Court. These areas will be blocked off and reserved for the Model A Round-Up Only. The Pangborn Contemporary Art Expo continues tonight with a Cocktail Hour at 7 PM. Performance by Jackson native, New York Metropolitan Opera Singer Richard Fracker at 8 PM. $30 Contribution. Saturday’s Highlights include Battalion Drills, Battle of the 1st Bull Run, Military Ball, Artillery Night Fire and much more! The Henrietta Firefighters Association Annual Chicken BBQ is today at 12 N (until all sold out) at the Fire Station, 1732 Bunkerhill Road, Pleasant Lake. There will be a raffle for prizes. Meal includes half chicken, baked beans, cole slaw, roll, desert and beverage. $8 for adults, $4 for children.
The Michigan Theatre presents Wesley and the Crushers with special guest Blackstone Steel. Also performing Vest and Tyler and Cat Lung. Doors open at 6:30 PM, show begins at 7 PM. There will be a Cosplay Costume Contest sponsored by MeggaXP. Admission is $13.
The Cascades Rotary Bandshell Summer Concert Series with entertainment provided by the Civil War Muster committee. Enjoy period music by authentic Civil War era musicians and singers. Concert is free and starts at 7pm at the Rotary Bandshell, Cascades Falls.
The Marco’s Pizza’s Pawsitively Good Pizza Event at Cascades Humane Society Saturday, hosted by the Horton Road Marcos Pizza. They will be selling pizza and refreshments on site here at CHS. They will also have several baskets full of goodies that they will be raffling off to benefit Cascades Humane Society. Hours are 12 PM – 3 PM Cascades Humane Society, 1515 Carmen Dr., Jackson.100% of the proceeds from the raffle will come right back to CHS. You do have to be present to win, so be sure to come out and enjoy the day.
Pet Adoption Event at The Hobbit Place/Dee’s Flowers. From 11 AM to 3 PM Jackson County Animal Shelter will have many dogs and cats up for adoption in a special adoption event at The Hobbit Place and Dee’s Flowers, M-60 in Spring Arbor. Come out and support the local shelter.

The 2nd annual 5 Healthy Towns Farm To Table Fabulous Feast will be hosted by the Grass Lake Farmers Market and will be held under the newly constructed pavilion in the Grass Lake Community Events Park. Event runs from 4 to 7 PM. Guests will begin the evening with a social hour during which they will enjoy appetizers. Dinner will then progress to a seated affair of a four course meal prepared by local chefs and restaurants including Craig Common, The Roaming Goat, Barney’s and more. Enjoy up to two alcoholic beverages from The Chelsea Alehouse, Lone Oak Winery and Prairie Organics. Farmers and vendors will be there too! Guests will be able to meet farmers and artisans, purchase products used throughout the dinner and pick up purchases on their way out. Proceeds from the event will support the farmers markets of Grass Lake, Chelsea, Manchester, Dexter Winter and Stockbridge. $50 General Admission tickets include: two appetizers, two alcoholic drink tickets with unlimited non-alcoholic beverages, a four course meal and two raffle tickets.
Walker Tavern Farmers Market is one of the largest open air markets in Southeast Michigan. There are over 50 vendors that can be found on most Sundays. There are local seasonal produce and handmade crafts at this farmers market, there are even some special Sunday events. A Recreation passport is required for State Park entry. Hours are 10am to 12 noon. Walker Tavern is located at M-50 and U.S. 12 in Brooklyn.
