Events of August 9, 2017

Today is “Pay One Price Day” at the Jackson County Fair.  Buy a ride bracelet once inside for $25.  Bracelets are sold until 8:30pm.  Morning 4-H Judging of Open Class Dairy and Goat at 9 am. and Dairy Judging at 1 pm.  Bingo tent opens at 12 pm, rides open at 2 pm.  4-H Horse & Pony Showmanship Championship and & Hippology Awards at 8pm.  Tonight’s grandstand performers are Aaron Tippin, Sammy Kershaw and Mark Chestnutt with “Roots and Boots Country Jam”.  Hospitality tent opens at 6 pm, show at 7 pm.  Tickets are $24 and $49. 

Career Quest Learning Centers will be holding a Grand Reopening today from 11 am to 6 pm.  The Jackson Campus is located at the Commonwealth Commerce Center, 209 E. Washington, Suite 204 in Downtown Jackson.  Refreshments, raffle prizes, live demonstrations, movie room for kids, and tours of the campus.  For more information, call 517-990-9595. 

The Grass Lake Farmers Market is open today at the Depot in downtown Grass Lake.  Hours are 4pm to 7pm.   Grass Lake Music in the Park will take place from 6pm to 8pm.   

The Beach Bar Clark Lake has their weekly Wednesday Patio Party.  This Wednesday, Collision Six will be rocking the patio party from 5:30-9:30 pm.

Allskate Fun Center presents  Wednesday Afternoon Skate & Laser Tag from 1-4pm. Admission is only $6 and skate rental is $4 (Skates or Blades).  Laser Tag:  1 play $5  |  Double play $8.  Family & Group Rates available.   Allskate Fun Center, 1313 West North Street, Jackson.

Cascades Family Night Concert Series continues tonight at 7pm at The Cascades.   International Blues Challenge finalist, guitarist, singer and songwriter Kev Nichols and his band Blue Tuesday will get your feet tapping with their original and classic blues tunes.  Admission is $10 per family.

The Carnegie Branch of the Jackson District Library presents Painted Rocks Roundup.   Tonight from 6-7:30 pm., join in on the Jackson Rocks fun!  Paint & Rocks provided.  All families welcome!

The Brooklyn Big Boy presents the weekly Brooklyn Big Boy Cruise Night.  Classic cars and other entertainment all evening long.

The Nixon Water Park has open swim sessions today from 11am to 2pm, 2:15pm to 5:15pm and 5:30pm to 7pm.  Morning and afternoon sessions are $4 per person, evening session is $2 per person.  Nixon Park is home to Nixon Water Park and Nixon Skate Park, one of 26 parks with amazing features in the City of Jackson.  The park includes both the Water Park and Skate Park, plus roller blade arena, four softball fields and a picnic area with shelter.
