The Capital City Brass Band presents “A Highland Christmas”, today at 7 PM at First Baptist Church, 201 South Jackson Street, Downtown Jackson.  Free admission…donations appreciated.

Home for Christmas starring Helen Welch.  The Michigan Theatre presents a return engagement of the popular Helen Welch in a wonderful way to start your holiday season.  Doors open at 6:30 PM, concert begins at 7:30 PM.  Tickets start at $13.  Holiday CD will be available for purchase.

Jackson College is hosting “New Year, New You Admissions Open House”, today at Central Campus.  Check in begins at 8:30 AM, program begins at 9 AM.  The open house will explore academic pathways, support services, campus resources and more.  Visit www.jccmi.edu/openhouse to register or for more information.

The Christmas Art Show by K Gallery.  We will be hosting 30+ outstanding regional artists in a variety of mediums for four weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas at the Southpoint Plaza in Jackson. (1931 Horton Road, Suite 12) Open Wednesdays through Saturdays Noon to 7 pm, Sundays Noon to 4 pm.

Nite Lites Holiday Light Display at Michigan International Speedway.  Now through December 30.  Michigan International Speedway.  US-12 Entrance only, 12626 US-12, Brooklyn.    Time: 5:30 pm – 9 pm Sunday thru Thursday.  5:30 pm – 10:00 pm Friday & Saturday.  Pricing: $20 per car / vehicle, $35 per mini-bus, $65 per tour bus.

Community Action Agency will be offering a FREE Homebuyer Education class on Saturday, December 16th, from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM. The class will be held at Community Action Agency at 1214 Greenwood, Jackson, MI 49203.  Registration is required as seating is limited.   The information covered is valuable for those deciding if purchasing a home is an option. Topics covered include:  Is Buying a House Right for Me?, Benefits of Homeownership,  How Much can I Afford?,  What Credit Score do I Need?,  Shopping for a Lender & Realtor,  What are the Closing Costs?, How to Protect My Investment.  For those working, unable to attend the six hour class, or busy that day, Community Action Agency also offers a self-paced online version for $99 at: www.ehomeamerica.org/caa. Hunger Huddle Breakfast:  Eat Simple, Feed Many.  It’s time to make your dollar go further. Come join us for breakfast sponsored by Schissler Certified Payment Consultants.  A donation of $15 per person covers 90 meals in Jackson County in partnership with the Food Bank of South Central Michigan (Battle Creek).  We will provide a simple breakfast to you and you will also help to provide 90 meals to the Jackson Community!  308 Brass Rail, 308 West Prospect Street, Jackson.  9:30 AM to 11:30 AM.

The Jackson Symphony Orchestra’s Community Strings Ensemble presents “Let’s Celebrate Christmas” with music, singing, poetry and dance.  Music Director Clyde McKinley presents the concert featuring Jackson area musicians and vocalists with Christmas favorites.  Admission is free, donations will be gratefully accepted.  Refreshments and conversations with the performers after the program.  7 PM, JSO Weatherwax Hall, 215 West Michigan Avenue, Downtown Jackson.

Free Holiday Movie presented by Derek Dobies.  Please join us for a screening of “NATIONAL LAMPOONS CHRISTMAS VACATION ” Many bar specials, concession stand will be open.  Free Admission.  Michigan Theatre,  7 PM.

Artist Reception for AG Chocolates.  Join us as we celebrate the beautiful (AND DELICIOUS) artwork of Chris Kitley, AG Chocolates. Jackson YMCA Gift Wrapping.  Save time this Holiday season.  The Jackson YMCA will wrap your presents while you workout!  Donations are greatly appreciated and will go to the Capital Campaign.  10 AM to 1 PM.

The Eastern Branch of the Jackson District Library is holding Holiday Party Open House.  Crafts, gifts, snacks and more.  11 AM to 1 PM.  All ages welcome.

Christmas with the Jackson Chorale.  Celebrate the joy of the season with the Jackson Chorale. This concert will feature Vivaldi’s Gloria as well as many favorite Christmas carols. Choirs from Northwest and Western HS will join the Chorale, as well as the Chamber Choir and Children’s Choir. 4PM – 6PM, First United Methodist Church, Downtown Jackson.  Details and tickets here.

Christmas Concert.  11th Annual WE WISH YOU A MERRY CHRISTMAS CONCERT and CELEBRATION.  Featuring Calvary Brass and Jim DeBruler on the Organ.   An hour of Christmas Music, Carol Singing, Fun For The Whole Family.  7:00 PM .  Free Refreshments.  Calvary United Methodist Church, 925 Backus St. (Lansing Ave. & Clinton St.) Jackson.

Miracle on Moore Street presented by  SARAH “Suicide Awareness Remember there is Always Help”.  You are invited to come and enjoy this Sunday service that will be hosted by our very own youth group. There will be have singing, praise, skits and many more enjoyable surprises.   Everyone is welcome. Come help us bring positivity and cheer back to our community.   After service there will be a opportunity to get a holiday photo taken by yourself or with loved ones for $10 and the proceeds go to the SARAH program.  We will also be having a potluck dinner.  Lane Memorial CME Church, 141 Moore Street, Jackson.  11 AM.
