Big Brothers Big Sisters of Jackson County present Golf Fore Kids Sake, Friday starting at 9am at Hankerd Hills Golf Course.  Come out to have fun golfing while you support mentoring youth in Jackson County. 8:00 am Registration, 9:00 am Shotgun Start. Men’s, women’s, and co-ed teams are encouraged to participate. Awards will be presented in each division.

The Michigan Theatre presents a Blues Music Bash! Hosted by the award winning Kev Nichols and Blue Tuesday. Doors will open at 7:00 pm, music starts at 7:30. There will be a sign up sheet at the concession area. Everyone who signs up will get to play! Amplifiers drums and mics will be provided! Guitar players and bass players just bring you’re Axes! Drummers Bring you’re sticks! Harmonica players please bring you’re own harps and mics.  Admission is free!

American 1 Credit Union Kids’ Fest is in its 12th year in Jackson.  The event is Friday at the American 1 Events Center at the Jackson County Fairgrounds.  The event is geared for children kindergarten through 5th grade, but is open to all children.  The event offers learning, safety and fun activities.  There are over 50 local businesses signed up to provide an activity and prize for the kids to enjoy.  There will be face painting, a bounce house, car seat safety checks, concessions and a free lunch.  Free transportation provided by Jackson Area Transportation Authority.  Hours:  Noon to 5 PM.

Center Stage Jackson presents “Shrek The Musical” at Potter Center.  Showtimes this weekend:  Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm, Sunday at 3pm.  Tickets are $16 for children (age 12 and under), $22 for adults (age 13 and up).  Group rates are available for groups of 10 or more.  Tickets can be purchased online or at the box office.

Saturday Events:

Jackson College will host Juneteenth Celebration featuring Motown, jazz and gospel music, Saturday, June 17 from 4-9:30 p.m. at the CP Federal City Square, Jackson. Performing will be the band Phase 5, Jackson’s own Shantelle & Terence Hawkins. DJ Jerome Smith will kick off the evening.

New this year, Juneteenth will now include a Resource Fair that will have representation from various areas of the community such as education, employment, healthcare and more. There will also be a Kids Zone.

The Juneteenth Celebration is a free community event hosted by the Jackson College Office of Multicultural Affairs, in partnership with the City of Jackson, Consumers Energy and Spring Arbor University. Henry Ford Allegiance Health is a title sponsor. 

More Saturday Events:

First ever Southern Michigan Push/Pull Summer Powerlifting Classic at Springport High School gym.  This will be an exhibition Michigan High School Powerlifitng Association Meet for Middle and High School student athletes.  Bench press and deadlift, boys and girls in grades 7-12.  Starting at 9AM.

The Cascades Rotary Bandshell Summer Concert Series continues Saturday at 7pm with “The All Directions”, a longtime fixture in Southern Michigan music, having played numerous concerts and festivals.  Admission is free, bring a blanket or lawn chair.
