UPDATE:  Jammin in Jackson and the Friday Film Festival have moved to the Michigan Theatre.  Music 6 to 8pm, movie to follow.

“Jammin’ in Jackson”, tonight at Horace Blackman Park, downtown Jackson.  This is a free, family friendly, summer evening concert series. The series takes place in the heart of Downtown Jackson located at the new CP Federal City Square Stage.  Thank you to our event sponsors CP Federal Credit Union, Downtown Jackson and Michigan Theatre of Jackson for supporting this event year after year! This year the music begins at 6 pm and plays until 8 pm.  Tonight features original blues and international music by Harper and Midwest Kind.  Thank you to Tripp’s Auto Shop, American 1 Credit Union, Integro LLC, Downtown Jackson, and Michigan Theatre of Jackson for making this event possible and worthwhile! 

The Friday Film Festival begins tonight, presenting a family-friendly classic at CP Federal City Square space in Jackson’s Horace Blackman Park (next to the Hayes Hotel). This event is free and open to the public.  Tonight’s movie is “Jumanji”.  Films will begin at dark (9:30/9:45 pm). The Theatre will be selling concessions such as popcorn, wine, and beer, including Grand River Brewery’s award winning Monkey Mouth! (bring your ID if you plan to partake.)  Thank you to Tripp’s Auto Shop, American 1 Credit Union, Integro LLC, Downtown Jackson, and Michigan Theatre of Jackson for making this event possible and worthwhile!  In the event of rain, we’ll have the show at the Michigan Theatre of Jackson located on Mechanic Street in downtown. Those under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult. 

The Jackson Downtown Development Authority presents Grand River Farmers Market, today and Saturday from 8am to 2pm.  Farmers and Vendors from around the area with fresh produce and other local items.  Credit, debit and Bridge cards are accepted.

“Tea and Conversations with the Mann Sisters”, today from 2pm to 4pm at the historic Mann House in downtown Concord.  Site historian Laurie Perkins hosts this story series exploring life in the Victorian era.  Admission is free.  Tours run 10am to 4pm.  Sponsored by the Concord branch of the Jackson District Library.

The Jackson District Library presents “80s Arcade Murder Mystery” from 5:30PM to 6:30PM at the Carnegie Branch.  Can you solve the crime? Join us on Friday, June 30 at 5:30 p.m. for pizza, mystery and murder. Registration is required because space is limited. Intended for ages 12-18. P.S. Acting parts are available! Let us know if you are interested when you register.

The Grand River Brewery is launching a new series from 7PM-10PM, “Open Mic Night in the Beer Garden”.  Our hope is to create a space in Jackson that performers of all kinds can use as a creative outlet! If the turnout is successful, we would love to make it a weekly event! Don’t be shy, come on down!!

 

Saturday

The Lost Railway Museum will host a Grand Opening on Saturday, July 1, 2017, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm located at 142 W. Michigan Ave. Grass Lake, MI. The program will begin at 11:30 am with a few speakers followed by a ribbon cutting. 

This grand opening is sponsored by Title Sponsors – Klavon’s Pizzeria & Pub and Rave Associates as well as by Silver Sponsors – Comtronics and Lloyd Ganton Retirement Centers.  Admission is free.

Vineyard Jam with Atomic Radio at Cherry Creek Winery, 15750 US 12, Cement City.  Sunday from 3pm to 6pm.
