Happy 188th Birthday, Jackson!

The Jackson Community Music School presents its popular Free Bach’s Lunch Series at Weatherwax Hall, downtown Jackson.  The Bach’s Lunch series promotes classical music through free noontime concerts open to the public, featuring CMS students, faculty, and guest artists.  Pizza slices and beverages will be available for purchase.  Visit www.jacksonmusicschool.org for more information.

The Michigan Theatre presents the classic film “The Ten Commandments” (1956) this evening.   Doors open at 6:30 P.M. Film Starts at 7:00 P.M. Admission is 5 Dollars. Enjoying a life of ease in the court of Egypt’s pharaoh, Moses (Charlton Heston), discovers his Hebrew heritage and, later, God’s expectations of him. He dedicates himself to liberating his people from captivity and — with the aid of plagues and divine intervention — manages to lead them out of Egypt and across the Red Sea. There is an intermission for this screening.

Spring Break Party.  1 PM to 5 PM at Allskate Fun Center. Allskate is kicking off a whole weeks worth of fun with a $2 Party from 1-5pm.  Admission is only $2 and Rapid Fire Laser Tag is only $2.  Grand Door Prize is 100 Game Tokens!   Skate Mates $5 + deposit.  $4 for any type of skate rental.  All Beef Hot Dog & Pop combo at the Snack Bar for only $2.50 More info here.   

The Jackson Coffee Company features free entertainment this evening from 7 PM to 10 PM with Dan Hazlett.  Dan’s rich, warm voice and skillful acoustic guitar work make his performances touching, humorous and uplifting. Jackson College will welcome the community for the Fifth Annual Easter Egg Hunt, from 10 AM to 12 Noon on Central Campus.  The event starts at 10 AM with fun, family activities, with the egg hunt starting promptly at 10:30 AM.  Children will again search in various age groups:  0-2, 3-5, 6-7, and 8-10.  There will be face painting, inflatables, and a petting farm exhibit with rabbits, lamb, baby ducks, goats and more.  Parents are invited to take their children’s photo with the Easter Bunny.  This year’s hunt will feature more than 25,000 pre-stuffed eggs, purchased from a St. Louis, MO company, a sheltered workshop, that supports people with disabilities.  Each egg will contain a sticker, toy, or peanut-free candy.  The age 0-2 area will have eggs that contain organic fruit chews, Smarties and orange slice candies.  This free event will be held in the center of campus.

The Ella Sharp Museum presents Ella’s Egg Hunt.  In Ella’s day most of the eggs could be found in the hen house, but on Saturday March 31, the eggs will be throughout the campus of Ella Sharp Museum.  A map with clues will be provided to our intrepid hunters.  At the conclusion of the hunt the collected eggs can be bartered for prizes in the General Store. 1PM, Ella Sharp Museum.

Jackson College invites students and community to a 2018 Women of Color Leadership Conference: Taking It to Another Level and Cultivating Greatness, Saturday, March 31 in Bert Walker Hall on Central Campus.  The Women of Color Conference is free. Registration will be held from 8:15-8:45 a.m. Saturday, March 31 in Bert Walker Hall, Rooms 144 & 145. The conference will run from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Please call 517.796.8480 to RSVP. Light continental breakfast will be available.

Party with the Easter Bunny.  The Easter Bunny will be visiting Allskate from 2-4pm.  Admission is $7.50 + $4 rental skates.  This Family Rate is Great!  $26 (4 Skaters with Rental Skates) only $6.50 for additional skaters. PARENT must remain present inside Allskate.  The Grand Door Prize is 100 Game Tokens!  While your there play some Laser Tag & check out our really cool Game Room and try to win some very awesome prizes!  Hot Dog & Pop combo at the Snack Bar for only $2.50.  Skate Mates: $5 + deposit.  Laser Tag.  1 – 6pm.  1 Play: $5     Double Play: $8.

The Michigan Theatre invites you to a viewing party for Final Four Basketball.   University of Michigan vs. Loyola Chicago game time is at 6:00 P.M. Doors open at 5:30 P.M. Admission is FREE!!! We will be offering $2 16oz. domestic beer and $1 hotdogs.

Community-Wide Holiday Dinner on Easter Sunday at 2:00 PM, Queen’s Parish Social Center, 811 S. Wisner, Jackson.  It’s not just a dinner, it’s the hospitality of Jesus alive and well among us!  Have you lost a loved one?  Are you new to the community?  Are you spending Easter alone?  If so, come share a holiday table with us!  Please call 517-784-9212 between 9 AM and 9 PM for reservations and let us know if transportation is needed.  Please Note: Doors will not open until 1:15 PM.  A single seating for dinner is at 2:00  We hope you can join us! (Reservations are not required, but appreciated).

Easter Brunch at Grand River Brewery.  Come brunch with Grand River Brewery on Easter Sunday.
