The Jackson YMCA Summer Day Camps begin today.  Kids have the opportunity to explore, find new talents, try new activities, gain independence, confidence, build character, make lasting friendships and memories.  And of course, it’s fun!  Field trips include Cedar Point, Detroit Zoo, Nixon Waterpark, Full Blast, Jackson County Fair, Air Zoo and many more destinations.  Registration details at www.jacksonymca.org or by calling (517)784-9622.

The Michigan Theatre presents the smash hit La La Land, Monday night.  The film is the second in our film course led by guest Professor Dave DeBaker.  The film class will begin at 6 PM, and there will there will be a brief discussion after the film.  Classes will cover the fundamentals of cinematography. Educating the viewer to a higher level of appreciation for the worlds largest artistic medium. Cost is $7 for an single film (which includes $5 admission).  Films are open to the public starting at 7 PM General Admission $5.

The Abstract Art Wine Glass Painting Class is presented by Art Self Expressions from 6PM to 8PM at Grand River Brewery.   In this class you will learn how easy it is to create a set of 4 unique abstract art wine glasses with simple step by step instructions. With a beautiful watercolor look, these glasses will be perfect for entertaining or for giving as a gift. No previous painting experience necessary! All supplies are provided. With a little paint, a little wine, lots of laughter and some music, it’s a party!
