Center Stage Jackson presents “My Fair Lady”.  Last weekend!   Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm, Sundays at 3pm.  Jackson College’s Potter Center, Baughman Theatre.  Directed by Steven Owsley.  Acclaimed Professor and confirmed bachelor Henry Higgins makes a wager with his linguistic colleague Colonel Pickering that in six months he can pass off “gutter snipe” Eliza Doolittle as a duchess at an embassy ball. Through arduous training, day and night, Eliza learns how to speak English “properly,” and transforms into a lady respected and adored by all classes. However, she finds herself in a difficult position, now too refined to go back to her old life and not with any means or desire to live life as a lady of leisure – especially by herself.  Tickets can be purchased at a discount rate online at www.CenterStageJackson.org or by calling (517) 539-4118. Tickets can also be purchased at the door.  Students:  $16 in advance, $18 at the door.  Adults: $18 in advance, $20 at the door. Group rates available (10 or more).

The Michigan Theatre presents a free showing of the movie “Die Hard” this evening at 7 PM.  New York City policeman John McClane (Bruce Willis) is visiting his estranged wife (Bonnie Bedelia) and two daughters on Christmas Eve. He joins her at a holiday party in the headquarters of the Japanese-owned business she works for. But the festivities are interrupted by a group of terrorists who take over the exclusive high-rise, and everyone in it. Very soon McClane realizes that there’s no one to save the hostages — but him.  Film is rated R. Children under the age of 17 must be accompanied by an adult. Concessions available for purchase.Doors open at 6:30 PM, Film begins at 7:00 PM.  Admission is FREE to everyone!

Jackson District Library Summit Branch Fall Book Sale.  Presented by the Friends of the Summit Branch Library.  Stop by the Summit Branch on Thursday and Friday, November 9 & 10 during open hours for adult fiction, children’s fiction and lots more. All ages welcome.

Mission of Hope Cancer Fund Ribbon Cutting and Open House  from 1:30 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. located at 745 Lansing Avenue, Jackson.Mission of Hope Cancer Fund is celebrating their 23rd anniversary with an Open House for their new Believe Center. The event begins at 1:30 P.M with a blessing of the building and the Ribbon Cutting will be at 2:00 P.M.  Light refreshments will be available. Local and state dignitaries in attendance.

AARP Michigan presents “Dance, Dance, Dance”,  7 PM to 11 PM, Gene Davis Banquet Center, 3575 Francis Street, Jackson.  An evening celebrating Jackson’s diverse culture through music and dancing.  Instructors will lead the way with lessons in ballroom, hustle, Latin and more.  No charge, but donations of new warm wither accessories will be accepted.  In observance of Veterans Day, all items will be presented to local veteran families.  To register, call 877-926-8300.

Women’s Expo at Jackson Church of the Nazarene.  Saturday, November 11, from 10:00a-3:00p.  The Expo will take place at JaxNaz Church, 3905 Clinton Road,  Jackson.  The Expo will feature a craft show, exhibits, food, Christmas gifts and more.  All are welcome.

Jackson Psychic/Art Fair.  Come out for the 2nd annual Jackson Psychic/Art Fair. There will be readers, healers, art, gifts, and lots of fun. We’ll even be raffling off some great items and free readings. Fun for the whole family!  This event takes place at Integrity Health & Wellness at 2111 Wildwood Ave., Jackson.  $3 entrance fee.  Great conversations and fun are FREE.

Guest Speaker Saturday at Michigan Military Heritage Museum, Grass Lake.  12 N to 5 PM.  1st Session starts at 12:00 PM:  Author and Pastor Clint Abbott will discuss a daring escape and rescue during WWII that involved his Father and several American nurses trapped behind enemy lines in Albania. Learn how actors Anthony Quayle and Sterling Hayden were involved! 2nd Session starts at 2:00 PM:  Author and Historian David Ingalls will speak on his book “Michigan’s Civil War Landmarks”. Books will be available for purchase and signing.  3rd Session starts at 4:00 PM:  President of Michigan’s WWI Centennial Dennis Skupinski will present “Stories of the Homefront, Michigan in WWI”. Music on Main Street, Concord.  12 N to 2 PM.  Join us at the Concord Branch! Every Saturday from 12-2 p.m., join us for an impromptu music jam! The Concord Branch Opera House will be open to the public. Bring your instrument (piano provided) and practice some music. Intended for teens & adults.

The Jackson Symphony Orchestra presents “Italy”.  The Jackson Symphony Orchestra celebrates creativity by featuring music and visual artists of all ages. The focus of this year’s presentation will be the music of Italy. The first half features a diverse selection of concert music written or inspired by Italian composers while the second half is a celebration of Italian opera’s greatest hits!  Featured artists include Michigan composer Anthony Iannaccone, tenor Johnathan Riesen, tenor Isaac Frishman, sop  rano Emily Douglass, as well as the Jackson Chorale, and student artists from Jackson County.  7:30 PM, Potter Center Music Hall, Jackson College.

Make Take Sing Play:  24 Hours of Create.  Come to Venue 634 to see artists of all kinds participating in the 4th Annual Make-Talk-Sing-Play Event. Watch artists painting, sculpting, carving, working with fabric, designing jewelry; talk to them about their process, purchase their work, be amazed at the fine artists that we have in Jackson County. Some will even be there for 24 hours creating!!! We have music starting out the event at 6:34pm Saturday night, and following are a plethora of musical talent to inspire and entertain all who come.  Art 645, 634 North Mechanic Street.  6:34 PM Saturday to 6:34 PM Sunday

Beading Class, Jackson District Library Eastern Branch.  Come on over to the Eastern Branch from 1:30-3 p.m. to learn a variety of beading projects. This event is free but there is a materials cost that may vary by project. Intended for teens and adults.  3125 East Michigan Avenue.

JAZ, Jackson Art Zone Open House.  ARTISTS: Grace, Macklin, Mason, Prokos, Smith, Sprague and Willcock invite you to tour the Jackson Art Zone. Meet artists in their studios, enjoy conversation and refreshments. Some studios will even have a guest artist.  1 PM to 5 PM, 414 North Jackson Street.
